The 2017
Lexus CT 200H
made no changes to its 2016 predecessor, save a few paint color changes and two new striking paint color options to choose from.
When purchasing a new vehicle, you want to make sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck, and this often comes down to buying the best version of the model you’re interested in. While some model years feature dramatic facelifts that offer more than the previous model, when it comes to the 2017 Lexus CT 200H, Lexus made the decision to not mess with a good thing.
That’s right—the 2017 Lexus CT 200H is basically the same as the 2016 model.

Is the 2017 Lexus CT 200H redesigned?

There are essentially no changes from the 2016 Lexus CT 200H to the 2017 Lexus CT 200H. This could be because after 2017, the Lexus CT 200H was discontinued in the US, so the market wasn’t anticipating any major changes to one of Lexus’s oldest hatchback models.
Whether you purchase a 2017 or 2016 CT 200H, you’ll essentially be driving the same vehicle—a classic Lexus hatchback with a 134-horsepower hybrid 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, available in five different trim levels. The CT 200H’s most impressive features include:
  • Drive Mode Select plus EV Mode
  • ECO driving indicator zone display
  • Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity
  • Outstanding fuel efficiency rating of an EPA-estimated combined 42 mpg
  • F SPORT, Touring, or Executive packages

2017 Lexus CT 200H vs. 2016 Lexus CT 200H: what changed?

The only changes from the 2016 to 2017 Lexus CT 200H are the colors it’s available in. Let’s take a closer look at what’s changed.

Styling

As we’ve already mentioned, the 2017 Lexus CT 200H doesn’t feature any styling changes except for what colors it’s available in. Here are the new changes to this hatchback’s color options:
  • Atomic Silver color option replaces the Silver Lining Metallic color option
  • Autumn Shimmer color option replaces the Fire Agate Pearl color option
  • Caviar Mica and Blue Vortex Metallic color options are added to the color option line-up
  • Obsidian color option is exclusive to the F SPORT model only
These color option changes are minor, but they could make or break your decision between purchasing a 2017 or 2016 CT 200H if your car’s paint job is a key concern.

Pricing

You’ll be glad to hear that there’s virtually no difference between the 2017 and 2016 Lexus CT 200H pricing. Both models have an original MSRP of $31,250. Resale prices for both years hover around $22,400 to $29,000, with the average price landing just above $26,000.
These stagnant costs reflect Lexus’s choice to not make any changes between the 2016 and 2017 CT 200Hs.

Should you buy a 2017 Lexus CT 200H?

There’s no way to know definitively if Lexus will bring the CT 200H back to the American market, so the big question is: should you purchase the 2017 CT 200H?
If you’re interested in owning an incredibly fuel-efficient luxury hatchback at a low price, consider purchasing the 2017 Lexus CT 200H. There are no confirmed plans to bring an updated version of this model to the US yet, and the 2017 version won’t cost you more than the 2016 model, which has all the same features and stylistic qualities.
The only drawback many drivers report is the CT 200H’s sluggish acceleration. While it looks sporty and features a sleek, eco-conscious leatherette interior, the CT 200H is not as powerful as other Lexus models, but its handling should prove more than adequate for the everyday commuter.
While you’ll receive more features with the Luxury and F SPORT packages, be prepared to give up some of today’s more advanced features, like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, in exchange for a low price and competitive fuel efficiency.
Even though the Lexus CT 200H is a beloved hatchback, known for its reliability and quality build, it can be a fairly expensive car to insure depending on your vehicle’s trim level and model year.
Higher trims tend to come with higher rates, and even though the CT 200H is reliable, its age makes this vehicle more vulnerable to breakdowns or other unexpected issues. That’s part of why
