Technically speaking, the Jaguar E-pace compact SUV is the only compact ute in the British cat’s lineup, but the midsize F-Pace and all-electric I-Pace are only about ten inches longer.
Subcompact and compact SUVs have certainly made their mark on the road, becoming increasingly more popular over the last few years. And while British carmaker Jaguar isn’t one to follow the crowds, the world’s favorite automotive feline has spawned one of the most delightful compact SUVs on the road—the E-Pace.
In this article, we’ll give you the rundown of Jaguar’s E-Pace. Since it's the only compact SUV in the Jaguar lineup,
Jerry

2023 Jaguar compact SUV models

There’s technically just one kitty in Jag’s litter of compact SUVs—the
Jaguar E-Pace
. But as mentioned, the F-Pace and I-Pace aren’t much bigger, so we’ll cover those too.

2023 Jaguar E-Pace ($49,175 MSRP)

Who wouldn’t want to scoot around town in the quicksilver that is the 173-inch long 2023 Jaguar E-Pace? Ok, so maybe it’s a bit slower than its rivals, but the E-Pace is actually a driver’s delight, with lithe handling, quick-twitch responsiveness, and luscious exterior design
Here’s what else is so great about this fun-yet-luxurious compact SUV:
Highlights include:
  • A peppy, turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine with 246 horsepower, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission
  • Standard driver-assist technology including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot assist, and adaptive cruise control
  • Updated infotainment system using Jaguar’s Pivi Pro software
  • Elegant interior silver trim, lots of soft-touch materials
  • 12.3 inch digital cluster gauge and 11 inch touchscreen
  • Decent amount of storage space
Weaknesses:
  • Jogs from 0 to 60 in 7.2 seconds

2022 Jaguar F-Pace ($52,400 MSRP)

So the
Jaguar F-Pace
is technically a midsize SUV, but there are no other compact Jaguar SUVs on the market. Besides, the F-Pace is a mere 13 inches longer (ok, that’s a fair bit)—but still, we’re going to chat this SUV up anyways!
Much quicker and more powerful than the E-Pace, the F-Pace prowls around town courtesy of its muscular four-cylinder engine with 247 horsepower, mated to an 8-speed automatic. This cat gets from 0 to 60 in just 6 seconds and brings sportscar-esque handling and braking to Jaguar’s SUV set.
The F-Pace has plenty of sophisticated style as well, with a sleek exterior design and a comfortable, quiet, and spacious cabin.
Highlights:
  • Optional six-cylinder engine brings more power to the E-Pace
  • Solid navigation system
  • Thumping Meridien audio system
  • Lots of standard driver-assist technology
  • Steering is confident and brakes are excellent
Weaknesses:
  • Noisy cabin ride
  • On the small side for mid size SUV
  • Rides a bit rough compared to rivals
  • Both infotainment and climate control systems are finicky, not intuitive to use

2022 Jaguar I-Pace ($72,575 MSRP)

Another smallish mid-size SUV from Jaguar, the all-electric Jaguar I-Pace measures 184 inches long—11 inches longer than the E-Pace. While it's not much bigger, the I-Pace is much more expensive and much more powerful, as it sports a 90 kWh/lithium-ion battery with a whopping 394 horsepower. The electric Jag SUV sprints from 0 to 60 in just 4.5 seconds, while its lightweight aluminum body and below-floor battery storage keeps this ride agile and athletic.
The I-Pace isn’t nearly as roomy as the F-Pace, and though it seats 5 occupants, you’ll be more comfortable with just 4 occupants. Even still, the rear legroom is decent.
Highlights:
  • Electric range of 234 miles on a full battery charge
  • Along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa also standard
  • Combined 76 MPGe
  • Slick 10-inch touchscreen, thumping Meridien sound system
  • Cushy cabin
  • Power liftgate and panoramic sunroof are standard
  • Eligible for up to $7,500 in federal tax credits
Weaknesses:
  • Battery range is lower than rivals, such as the Tesla Model Y
  • Expensive even at the base trim

Other comparable compact SUV models

So maybe Jaguar’s compact and kinda-compact (ok, mid-size) SUVs don’t exactly do it for you? There are plenty of compact SUV alternatives to the Jaguar E-Pace if you’re looking for something a little different. Here are three of the best:
  • Volvo XC40
($37,445 MSRP): Just like your parents’ classic 1970s Volvo, the 2023 Volvo XC40 is hip, with its stylish exterior design, elegant and practical cabin, plenty of standard tech, and a 48 volt hybrid system on both the B4 and B5 models.
  • BMW X1
($36,395): Spritely turbocharged four cylinder engine, superb handling, and a practical cabin, even if the cabin itself isn’t BMW’s crowning achievement in terms of interior design.
  • Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA-class
($49,000): Sporting a powerful turbocharged four cylinder, the Benz AMG brings power, agility, and a sleek exterior design, along with a luxurious interior, decent cargo space, and standard all-wheel drive.

What is Jaguar’s smallest SUV?

That would be the E-Pace, which is shorter than both the F-Pace and I-Pace. Here’s how all three measure up:
  • Jaguar E-Pace: 173 inches
  • Jaguar I-Pace: 184.3 inches
  • Jaguar F-Pace: 186.9 inches

What is Jaguar’s cheapest SUV?

Well, we here at Jerry wouldn’t exactly call it cheap, but the cheapest SUV in Jaguar’s lineup is also the smallest—the E-Pace is least expensive with a starting price of $49,175.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
