Average rates are just an overview. Two drivers with the exact same Toyota RAV4 Limited might pay very different premiums, based on driver age, driving history, and the insurance provider they choose.
Custom quotes can help you identify the absolute cheapest rate and best coverage for your Toyota RAV4 Limited car insurance.

The best car insurance companies for Toyota RAV4 Limited owners

Make and model only matter so much to insurance companies. That’s why there is no single best company for all RAV4 drivers. Ultimately, your unique driver profile has a lot more influence on your rate than your vehicle type alone.
Every company has its own formula for calculating auto insurance rates, and each one is different. That’s why two people with the same exact trim and driving record can pay different prices at different companies. Some people might find the best rates with a major company like
Allstate
,
GEICO
,
Progressive
,
State Farm
, or
USAA
—but smaller companies with a local office may offer cheaper rates to some drivers.
The
best company
for you might be the cheapest, but make sure you consider claims handling performance and customer service in addition to car insurance policy cost.
To make it easy, here’s an overview of top companies as rated by real Toyota RAV4 drivers. Check out what people had to say about these companies after experiencing them as policyholders.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

Average Toyota RAV4 Limited insurance costs

The Toyota RAV4 Limited costs, on average, $88 per month for minimum liability coverage. That’s about $1,056 as an average annual premium. For more extensive protection, some RAV4 drivers opt for full coverage and pay about $153 per month or $1,836 per year.
If you can unlock insurance discounts, you may be able to pay less than average. For instance, you can bundle your auto coverage with a homeowners or renters policy to get an overall discount.

How much car insurance do you need for a Toyota RAV4 Limited?

Most states mandate
minimum liability coverage
, which includes basic property damage and bodily injury liability. This pays out to protect other drivers and their property if you cause injuries or damages.
A
full coverage
policy is more robust and generally includes liability insurance, along with collision coverage and comprehensive coverage. This protects your own vehicle in the event of an accident, but you have to pay your out-of-pocket deductible first. It’s not legally required in any state, but it may be required by lenders.
For optimal protection, consider increasing your liability limits to 50/100/50 or 100/300/100, and adding converge options, such as
roadside assistance
and
rental reimbursement
to your full coverage policy.

Toyota RAV4 Limited insurance cost by model year

Model year is a key factor in determining the cost of car insurance on Toyota RAV4s. That’s because each model year has unique safety ratings and features that may affect its accident risk and replacement cost.
Generally, a new car or newer models cost more to insure because they have higher MSRP and cash value. Older Toyotas, on the other hand, usually cost less to insure.

When calculating rates, companies pay attention to risk factors. This includes replacement and repair costs as well as accident rates and theft rates. Safety features are also critical, too. Safer cars are less likely to get into an accident and trigger a claim, so they usually cost less to insure.
Here’s where the Toyota RAV4 Limited rates in terms of safety, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Methodology

The Insurance Research Team analyzes insurance products and services to drive insights and help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
