The most common 2015 Acura MDX problems

In the seven or so years since the 2015 Acura MDX first hit the open road, the car has had over 160 total complaints issued to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Most of these were related to the MDX’s power train, but there were also complaints related to its engine and electrical system.
The 2015 Acura MDX has also had three recalls. The first was due to insufficient fuel tank welds, which caused fuel leaks. Leaking gas presents a major fire hazard, so that was a very serious issue. The second was due to reduced fuel pump performance—if uncorrected, a degraded fuel pump can cause an engine to stall. The third recall was issued for a possible loss of a tailgate lid light, which could reduce your car’s visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Some MDX users have reported issues with the vehicle’s transmission, including hesitation on acceleration, lurching, and transmission slipping. If an MDX has issues with its transmission, they typically become noticeable after the vehicle hits 9,600 miles driven.
Acuras built between 2002 and 2017 often experience issues with their EVAP canister vent solenoid. It has been reported that this solenoid will sometimes stop responding to commands, which degrades the engine performance.
The 2015 MDX also has notoriously uncomfortable seats and a driver’s seat that’s difficult to adjust. In fact, many MDX drivers elect to replace these troublesome seats. Some drivers have also reported a suspension problem that causes the MDX to start thumping when it hits 7,500 miles.
There may also be problems with the technology—MDX drivers have experienced problems with the vehicle’s electronics. Many have seen their display screen freeze or go black. Others have had their navigation screens lock up, or have reported difficulties with their backup camera display.

Is the 2015 Acura MDX reliable?

That may seem like a lot of problems, but all cars have problems. The longer they’re on the road, the more problems they’re going to have. Overall, the 2015 MDX is actually considered a pretty reliable car.
The 2015 MDX holds a 4/5 reliability rating from RepairPal. J.D. Power scores the 2015 MDX at 79/100 for reliability and quality.
The average annual repair cost for the 2015 MDX is $550. For perspective, the average American spends around $400 on car repairs each year. New cars typically cost about $1,000 a year in repairs, so the 2015 MDX is not too far off when it comes to maintenance expenses.
