The most common 2011 Dodge Durango problems

The 2011 Dodge Durango has seen its fair share of problems during its lifespan—most notably with its electrical system. Other common issues with the 2011 Durango involve the engine, fuel/propulsion system, service brakes, and powertrain.
Between 2014 and 2019, the Chrysler Group issued a total of eight recalls for the 2011 Dodge Durango due to varying electrical issues, like failed alternators, fuel pump relays, and shorts in the vanity lamp. These failures can cause the vehicle to stall or catch fire, both of which can cause serious accidents and harm.
Other recalls addressed issues with the brakes, including a brake booster shield problem and a concern about the power brake assist. Both of these reduce the braking ability of the Durango, leading to a higher risk of an accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) received a whopping 764 complaints for the 2011 Dodge Durango, and 65% involve the electrical system. Most of these issues were addressed by the recall, but some report engine issues leading to stalling even after the recall repairs were made.

Is the 2011 Dodge Durango reliable?

Despite these reported issues, the 2011 Dodge Durango earns good reliability scores from both J.D. Power (82/100) and RepairPal (3.5/5). The average cost and frequency of repairs for the model are also lower than average compared to similarly sized SUVs.
