Overall, Nationwide is a great insurance company.
After analyzing over 400 verified customer reviews for Nationwide, we determined that the vast majority (82%!) had a positive experience with the service they received, while only 6.7% were negative.

The good: Nationwide's broad variety of coverage options and low-priced rates for drivers with poor credit are frequently cited as advantages for selecting this insurer. Customers of Nationwide have also praised the following features:
  • Offers accident forgiveness, new car replacement, and vanishing deductible options
  • Their mobile app is easy to navigate and use
  • Efficient and effective claims service

Keep in mind that each driver's risk profile is different, which means everyone will receive a personalized quote from Nationwide. Nationwide, like other insurance providers, considers the following when calculating your premium:
Although insurance providers in every state have the right to use their rating factors when setting rates, there is still significant variation in premium costs from one location to another.

Will Nationwide raise your rates?

Like any insurance company, Nationwide can only increase premiums when you
renew your policy
.
Nationwide may decide to increase your premium for the following reasons:
  • New tickets, violations, or accidents
  • New address
  • New driver on the policy
  • New car on the policy
  • Inflation
Out of the drivers surveyed, 52% renewed their coverage with Nationwide.
The cost of insurance can go up or down over time regardless of whether or not there have been any changes to your driving record or other factors, so don't be caught off guard if this happens to you.

Does Nationwide resolve claims fast?

Along with many other insurance companies, Nationwide can resolve property damage claims in about 30 days. However, resolution time varies on the nature of your car insurance claim.
The insurance company will investigate the claim, assess the damages or injuries, and determine who is at fault and what coverage is available to settle or deny the claim quickly. Meeting this deadline ensures policyholders receive prompt and effective assistance, reducing claims stress and delays.
About 52% of all Nationwide policyholders have made a claim, according to our survey. Customers were very satisfied with Nationwide's claims service, rating it 4.5 out of 5.
Nationwide's score was higher than the industry norm of 3.54/5. When compared to other businesses of a similar size, we placed Nationwide in 2nd based on the claims process feedback of their verified customers.

Nationwide coverage options

If you only need your
state’s liability minimum coverage
, you can usually find this type of car insurance policy through most insurance companies. But what coverage options do Nationwide provide if you require additional coverage?
Nationwide offers the following types of coverage:
Comprehensive insurance
: If your vehicle is damaged from a non-collision accident such as severe weather, vandalism, theft, or accidents involving animals, comprehensive coverage will help pay for your damages.
Collision insurance
: This coverage helps cover damages to your vehicle if you’re involved in any collision with another vehicle or a stationary object.
Gap insurance
: This coverage may pay the difference between your car’s actual cash value (ACV) and the amount you owe on your loan.
Liability car insurance
: This insurance includes
bodily injury liability
and
property damage liability
that are required by your state to help cover damages for other drivers if you’re at fault in an accident.
Medical payments (MedPay) coverage
: Some no-fault states may require this coverage or
personal injury protection (PIP)
to help cover medical expenses for you and your passengers in the event of a car accident.
Roadside assistance
: If your car breaks down on the road, this coverage will help pay for 24/7 emergency services like towing, tire changes, and more.
Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage
: This insurance will cover damages and medical expenses if you get into an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver.
