Average rates
for Mazda CX-5 Preferred car insurance are helpful for estimates, but know that you’ll probably diverge from these figures. For instance, a 40-year-old driver typically gets cheaper insurance than a 20-year-old driver even if both drive the same vehicle.
While companies don’t share their formulas publicly, you can pull no-obligation quotes anytime to see which company offers the cheapest rate for you and your Mazda CX-5 Preferred with Jerry.

The best car insurance companies for Mazda CX-5 Preferred owners

Your make and model are important, but they can’t tell you which company is the absolute cheapest for insurance. The cheapest policy for one Mazda CX-5 Preferred driver may not be the cheapest for you, based on your differing driving records and zip codes.
Some weigh your driving history more heavily, for instance, while others consider age a more impactful determinant. Most Mazda CX-5 Preferred drivers have found good rates with top insurance companies like
State Farm
,
Allstate
,
GEICO
,
USAA
, and
Progressive
—but they’ve also found affordable car insurance premiums with smaller local insurers.
The
best company
might be the cheapest, but what about claims handling and customer service ratings? Drivers should consider a variety of factors when shopping for insurance, outside of just cost.
In a recent Jerry survey, real Mazda CX-5 Preferred drivers rated their providers on a 5.0 scale. Here are the results.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

How much car insurance do you need for a Mazda CX-5 Preferred?

All drivers are subject to their state’s
minimum coverage
requirements. In most states, this means an insurance policy with
liability coverage
that includes
bodily injury
and
property damage protection
. This pays out if you injure or damage other people and their property.
Full coverage
, on the other hand, typically includes liability coverage, along with
collision coverage
and
comprehensive coverage
. These types of coverage will pay for collision-related and non-collision related (wind storm, theft, vandalism) damages to your own vehicle. However, you must first pay an out-of-pocket deductible before this coverage kicks in.
Depending on your risk aversion and your financial situation, you may prefer a full coverage policy with higher liability limits and add-ons like
uninsured motorist coverage
or
roadside assistance

Mazda CX-5 Preferred insurance cost by model year

When it comes to model year, newer models tend to cost more to insure. That’s because a new car and newer vehicles have cutting-edge tech and higher MSRPs, so they cost more to replace and repair.
The CX-5 Preferred trim has only been available since 2022, so most of these vehicles will come with higher-than-average insurance costs. Once your car has its third birthday, your Mazda CX-5 insurance rates should drop slightly.
Take a look at how auto insurance premiums change by model year for the Mazda CX-5 Preferred.

Similar models tend to cost the same to insure, but even a slight difference can bump your rate up or down. Companies often take into account the MSRP, theft rates, cost of repairs, model year, and more.
Safety features can vary between model years and trim levels, too. Some have better airbags, anti-lock brakes, anti-theft devices, or lane departure warning, for instance. Insurance providers care a lot about these features and ratings, as they predict future risk and likelihood of claims filing.
Here are the safety ratings for the Mazda CX-5 Preferred, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which measures crash test performance and other safety information.

Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve.
