How much does Kia Forte car insurance cost?

The average Kia Forte driver spends about $108 per month on state minimum car insurance and $197 per month on full coverage insurance. This makes the Kia Forte about more expensive to insure than other popular cars, like the
Chevrolet
Cavalier
,
Hyundai
Genesis
, and
Mercury
Sable
Your personalized insurance quote might look a lot different from the average rate, though. This is because car insurance prices are highly individualized and dependent on things like your vehicle’s age and trim level. The only reliable way to find out how much your car insurance will cost is to
compare car insurance quotes
from several providers.

Compare the cheapest Kia Forte car insurance quotes

While finding car insurance quotes might feel daunting, it’s actually pretty easy. With the Jerry app, you can compare quotes quickly and easily. This service saves Kia Forte drivers an average of $4,744 per year on their car insurance.

Even for the same car model, however, insurance costs can vary. Things like your driving record, zip code, credit score, and insurance history can have a big impact on your rate, as can your car’s model year and trim level.
To figure out how much you’ll be paying for your Kia Forte, you’ll need to
get car insurance quotes
from at least three insurance companies.

The best car insurance companies for Kia Forte owners

Every insurance provider will use a slightly different algorithm to
calculate your premiums
, meaning there is no one best insurance company for every Kia Forte owner.
Instead of relying on one provider for the best rates, get quotes from a few providers to find the best price for your policy. To help you get started, Jerry experts conducted the largest survey in the nation. While providers like
Allstate
and
Progressive
were praised for their customer service, other insurers, including
Safeco
and
Travelers
, achieved higher scores for having some of the lowest rates.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

How much car insurance do you need for a Kia Forte?

When shopping for car insurance, there are two main types of coverage you should consider:
On average, Kia Forte insurance costs about $197 per month for full coverage and $108 per month for state minimum coverage.
CarAverage Full Coverage Insurance CostAverage State Minimum Insurance Cost
Kia Forte
$197
$108
While the state minimum is cheaper on a monthly basis, it only covers damages and medical expenses for third parties—and if the limits on your liability insurance run dry, then you’ll be on the hook for the remaining fees, which can leave you financially vulnerable. Most drivers will benefit from a full coverage policy with higher liability limits of either 50/100/50 or 100/300/100.
For added protection, drivers should also consider including optional insurances on their policy, such as
roadside assistance
or
rental reimbursement
.

Why are some trims more expensive to insure than others?

Premium trim levels often pose a higher risk to insurance companies due to higher repair and replacement costs. Take a look at the following table to see the average cost of auto insurance for popular Kia Forte trims.

Are Kia Fortes expensive to insure?

At an average rate of $151 per month, the Kia Forte insurance is more expensive to insure than the national average for other models in a similar price range.

But what exactly makes one car more or less expensive to insure than another? Insurance companies take a lot of factors into consideration when calculating your insurance prices, such as your vehicle’s MSRP, trim level, model year, and safety ratings—all of which have a big impact on your premiums.

Kia Forte safety ratings

Safety ratings are also an important determining factor for car insurance premiums. Two of the most well-known vehicle safety rating organizations are:
  • Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS): The IIHS uses two factors to assess vehicle safety: how well the technology in the vehicle can prevent or reduce the severity of crashes, and how well vehicle occupants are protected in an accident.
  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): The NHTSA bases their 5-Star Safety Rating on how vehicles perform in frontal, side, and rollover crashes.
Check out the following tables to see how the Kia Forte stacks up in terms of safety—and the areas that may impact the cost of car insurance.

Kia Forte safety features

Vehicles with more advanced safety features pose a lower risk to insurance providers, resulting in lower rates. Overall, the Kia Forte is a relatively safe vehicle to drive—but according to data from the IIHS, poor headlights, front crash prevention, and reminder features lowered its final score.
Here are all of the safety features included in the Kia Forte and their primary functions.
Safety featureDescription
Pretensioners
Seatbelt pretensioners automatically tighten seatbelts to place the occupant in the optimal seating position during a collision.
Stability control
Stability control automatically senses when the vehicles handling limits have been exceeded and reduces engine power and/or applies select brakes to help prevent the driver from losing control of the vehicle.
Overhead airbags
Overhead airbags are used to protect the occupant's heads in the event of a side collision or rollover.
Anti-lock brakes
ABS brakes automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking, and will modulate the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. This increases the vehicles ability to turn while braking.
Side impact airbags
Side impact airbags for the front seats have been designed to protect the torso during a side impact collision.
Front-impact airbags
Front-impact airbags for the driver and passenger have been designed to protect the head during a frontal crash.

What other factors affect Kia Forte insurance rates?

Your
car insurance rate
is influenced by a lot of things, including:
  • Your driver age: Drivers under 25 see higher insurance premiums, as insurance companies view their limited driving experience as a high risk. While rates drop at 25, they often increase once a driver turns 65 as a result of age-related risks.
  • Your driving history and claims history: If you have a history of accidents or tickets, your insurance company will typically charge you more.
  • The type of vehicle you drive: High-performance, luxury, and sports vehicles have higher collision and comprehensive coverage costs due to less available parts and higher repair costs.

Kia Forte insurance cost for young drivers

For drivers between the ages of 16 and 19, insurance costs will be much higher than for other age groups.
Teen drivers
are more likely to get into accidents, meaning they pose a higher risk to insurance companies. For similar reasons, full coverage policies offer better financial protections for teens driving a newer car.
Take a look at some of the real rates teens received for their Kia Forte with Jerry.

Kia Forte insurance cost for senior drivers

As we age, car insurance can become more expensive again. Drivers in their mid-70s will see higher car insurance rates.
Car insurance rates for seniors
are higher for a couple of reasons; older adults are more likely to be involved in accidents and are more vulnerable to severe injuries in the event of a crash.
However, senior motorists can still find cheap auto insurance quotes by shopping with Jerry.

Kia Forte insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Various driving violations can impact your insurance premiums, too. If you have a
clean driving record
, you’ll see lower premiums. If you have a history of violations, however, your insurance provider may consider you a higher risk and charge a higher rate.
Some violations that can cause your insurance to increase include:

Cheapest car insurance for Kia Forte drivers with speeding tickets

Drivers with a speeding ticket can experience higher than average premiums—however, the increase will depend on how fast you were going. For example, speeding 1-5 MPH over the limit, 6-10 MPH over the limit generally won’t raise your rates as much as speeding over 21 MPH over the limit.
Several Kia Forte owners with speeding infractions have found lower rates through Jerry. Take a look at some of the recent rates drivers have achieved:

Cheapest car insurance for Kia Forte drivers with a DUI record

If you have a DUI offense on your record, your car insurance rates will rise—or you may be rejected from coverage altogether. Not every provider offers insurance to drivers with a DUI as it’s seen as a very high-risk infraction.
As a result, you will need to compare rates from many insurance companies to find the best coverage after a DUI. Jerry has helped many Kia Forte drivers obtain affordable auto insurance rates after a DUI.

How can I lower the cost of insurance for my car?

Finding cheaper than average coverage isn’t impossible—and even once you have a lower rate, you can still save on car insurance with these tips:
  • Shop around: The best way to ensure that you get the most affordable price for your policy is to compare quotes from as many insurers as possible, either with an insurance agent or a broker, like Jerry.
  • Raise your deductible: If you increase your
    car insurance deductible
, or the amount of money you’ll pay out-of-pocket before your insurance kicks in, your monthly rate will go down. Just make sure that you’re still able to pay your deductible in the event of an accident.
  • Bundle your insurance policies: Some insurers will offer discounts when you
bundle your homeowners and auto insurance
    .
  • Research discounts: Most insurance providers offer discounts, but those discounts aren’t always advertised. Contact your current provider and ask if you’re missing out on any potential savings.

Methodology

The Insurance Research Team analyzes insurance products and services to drive insights and help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
For the quotes and sold policies included in this article, please note that personal information has been hidden. Not all customers find savings.
Team: The team consists of licensed insurance agents, insurance industry veterans, and data scientists.
