How to start your Land Rover remotely through the InControl Remote app

Using the InControl app to start your Land Rover is pretty simple. For example, the remote climate feature allows you to set the desired in-vehicle temperature up to 30 minutes before your journey by starting the engine. But before you can use the handy features of the app, you’ll need to connect your smartphone or device to your Land Rover.

If your Land Rover dealer hasn’t already registered your account, follow the steps below to register:

Create an account on the My Land Rover InControl website by entering your email. Once an email is sent to you, follow the setup instructions to enter your contact information, security details, and vehicle identification information

Connect your account with your vehicle by starting your engine and pressing the Optimized Land Rover Assistance button for 10 seconds, until the button flashes slowly

Return to the My Land Rover InControl website, where the screen should refresh to show your vehicle successfully connected to your account

Now that the InControl app has been activated, you can use the Remote features of the app, including remote climate to start your vehicle.

Depending on your vehicle specifications, the app will allow you to pre-condition your vehicle via the Engine Start function or the Fuel Fired Heater function.

If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, you can select your target temperature, press the “Engine Start” button, and enter your InControl PIN on the Remote Climate screen of the app.

If your vehicle has a manual transmission, your vehicle will be pre-conditioned using the fuel-fired heater. You can select the “Start” button, enter your InControl PIN on the Remote Climate screen, and your vehicle will heat or vent depending on the current temperature.

Keep in mind that Remote Climate will only work using the fuel-fired heater if vehicles are equipped with the Park Heat option, which will need to be purchased separately.

How to turn your Land Rover off remotely

Once you’ve used the Remote Climate feature to start your Land Rover’s engine, you’ll have the option to stop the engine through the app. Simply press “Engine Stop” and your vehicle will automatically turn off.
