Why your 2013 Honda Pilot needs a radio code

Your radio code is probably one of those things that you’ve never given much consideration to. It exists to try to prevent thieves from stealing your stereo system–one of the most frequently stolen items in a car.
The “code” request appears when your stereo system is disconnected from its power source, most frequently when your battery dies or is replaced. While this code can be a useful theft-deterrent it can also be a hassle for you when it comes up on your radio display.

How to find your 2013 Honda Pilot radio code

If your radio isn’t working, or if it is demanding a code, the first thing you should try is resetting your radio by holding down the power button for a few seconds. If that doesn’t do it, then you’ll have to search for your radio code.
Fortunately, finding your 2013 Honda Pilot radio code is pretty straightforward. You should be able to find the code either on a sticker in your glove compartment or in your owner's manual. Look for a five-digit numerical code labeled the “Anti-Theft Radio Code.”
If you find anything longer than five digits or containing letters then that's not the correct code. On the sticker, you may also find a 10-digit serial number, which is not the radio code but can be used to find it if the code itself isn’t there.

How to look up a 2013 Honda Pilot radio code

If that sticker is nowhere to be found or scratched up, don’t worry, you can still get your Honda Pilot radio code online or by contacting Honda. You’ll just need a couple of things: your
Honda vehicle identification number (VIN)
and your radio serial number.
Obtaining your VIN is pretty easy. You can find it on your insurance slip, registration documents, and written on the dash at the base of the driver’s side windshield or on the driver’s side door jamb.
To get the radio serial number you will need to know a little trick. If you hold down buttons 1 and 6 on your radio and turn your radio on while holding, after a few seconds you should see a 10-digit number displayed on the screen. That’s the serial number. If this trick doesn’t work, you may have to pull out your stereo system and look for the serial number on the back of your stereo.
