How long is a GMC Sierra 1500?

When determining truck size, there are usually two factors to take into account: the cab and the bed. You’ll have a few different options for each on your GMC Sierra 1500.

Cab options

There are three cab types to choose from on the GMC Sierra 1500:
  1. The Double Cab. You’ll be able to seat six people in the Double Cab. If you choose this option, your truck will be 231.9 inches in length (19.325 feet).
  2. The Crew Cab. You can also seat six people in the Crew Cab, but passengers will have just a little more space. If you choose this option, your truck will be 231.9 to 241.5 inches in length (19.325 to 20.125 feet).
  3. The Regular Cab. This is the smallest cab option offered for the GMC Sierra and can only seat three people total. If you choose this option, your truck will be 211 to 229.6 inches in length (17.583 to 19.13 feet).

Bed options

Different cab options also come with different bed options:
  1. The Long Bed, which is available for the Regular Cab, is 98.2 inches long (8.183 feet).
  2. The Standard Bed, available for any cab type, is 79.4 inches long (6.617 feet).
  3. The Cargo Bed, which is only available for the Crew Cab, is 69.9 inches long (5.825 feet).

The GMC Sierra 1500 vs. your garage

It’s extra important to know how big your new truck will be if you’re worried about the size of your garage. Of course, the easiest way to know whether or not your truck will fit in the space is to measure your garage manually.
However, if this option isn’t available to you, you can still estimate how much space you have for your truck. The average American garage is between 20 and 24 feet in depth.
That’s 240 to 288 inches, meaning the GMC Sierra 1500 will be a pretty tight squeeze in some standard garages. This is especially true if you opt for one of the larger cab and/or bed sizes since that will increase the length of your vehicle and possibly put you over the capacity of your garage.
Remember that you’ll need to leave some extra room on every side to make it easier to park your truck. If your garage is 240 inches deep and your truck is 239 inches long, you probably won’t be able to close your garage door without some serious rearranging.
