How much does Acura TLX car insurance cost?

On average, Acura TLX drivers pay $129 per month for state minimum insurance coverage and $215 per month for full coverage insurance. Compared to cars like the
Fiat
500
,
Jeep
Cherokee
, and
Hyundai
Veloster
, the Acura TLX is 14% more expensive to insure.
However, it’s important to note that there are no ‘fixed’ averages for auto insurance. Rates are constantly fluctuating based on your driver profile and insurer criteria. As such, the best way to know how much you’ll pay for car insurance is to shop around and compare quotes from different insurance providers.

Keep in mind that insurance costs will vary, even for identical vehicles. While insurers use your age, driving history, and location to calculate premiums, they also consider your Acura’s model year and trim level. If you want the best rate for your Acura TLX without compromising coverage, compare quotes from at least three auto insurance companies before settling on a policy.

The best car insurance companies for Acura TLX owners

No single insurance provider will be the best fit for all Acura TLX drivers—car insurance rates are highly individual, and every insurer uses a different set of rating factors to
calculate auto insurance premiums
To help you navigate the car insurance world, Jerry conducted the largest nationwide survey to determine the best insurance providers in the country. According to real Acura TLX owners, providers including
GEICO
,
Allstate
, and
State Farm
provide great customer service, while others, including
Travelers
and
AAA
offer competitive rates.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

How much car insurance do you need for a Acura TLX?

The level of car insurance you’ll need for your Acura TLX will depend on various factors, such as your specific driver requirements, vehicle type, and model year. When shopping for car insurance, there are two basic options to choose from:
CarAverage Full Coverage Insurance CostAverage State Minimum Insurance Cost
Acura TLX
$215
$129
Although the state minimum is inherently cheaper, it may cost you more money in the long run. Keep in mind that it only covers damages and injury expenses for third parties, and if your limits max out, you could be left financially vulnerable. As a result, most drivers benefit from a full coverage policy with higher liability limits of 50/100/50 or 100/300/100.
For added protection, consider add-on insurances, such as
roadside assistance
or
rental reimbursement

Why are some trims more expensive to insure than others?

Car insurance rates are calculated partly based on vehicle repair and replacement costs. The higher the value of your car, the more you’ll pay to insure it.
Similarly, safety features and crash test ratings also matter. Vehicles with higher ratings from experts like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are considered a lower risk to insurers and, therefore, receive lower premiums.
The table below shows the average car insurance rates for various trim levels of the Acura TLX.

Acura TLX insurance cost by model year

Insurance costs will vary by Acura model year. New cars have a higher value (MSRP) and more high-tech components and, therefore, higher repair and replacement costs, translating to higher insurance rates.

Insurers consider the vehicle’s MSRP, trim level, model year, and repair costs when calculating insurance premiums. Because these factors vary significantly between cars, insurance prices will reflect these differences.

Acura TLX safety ratings

Insurers are all about safety, and when calculating insurance rates, they look at expert safety ratings to determine risk levels.
The two best-known vehicle safety rating organizations are:
  • Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS): The IIHS assesses the safety of a vehicle using two factors: how well vehicle occupants are protected in the event of a car crash and how well the technology in the vehicle can prevent or reduce the severity of crashes.
  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): The NHTSA’s 5-Star Safety Rating is based on how vehicles perform in frontal, side, and rollover crash tests.
See the tables below for a look at IIHS safety ratings for the Acura TLX.

What other factors affect Acura TLX insurance rates?

While vehicle-specific factors like MSRP and trim level influence car insurance rates, insurers also take into account other factors. The two biggest factors insurers consider when calculating insurance rates are your age (or driving experience) and driving record. But they also take into account your location, driving habits, credit score, and claims history, among others.

Acura TLX insurance cost for young drivers

Teen drivers
aged 16 to 19 pay the highest insurance rates of any age group due to limited driving experience. Less time on the road means a higher risk of accidents, which makes them a bigger risk for insurers. After 25, rates should steadily start to decline.
Here are some of the real rates teen drivers found using Jerry.

Acura TLX insurance cost for senior drivers

While middle-aged and senior drivers typically enjoy the cheapest auto insurance rates, rates don’t stay low. As seniors enter their mid-60s, rates start to increase due to slower reflexes that increase accident risk and increased fragility that can lead to steeper medical costs. As a result, senior car insurance rates tend to be higher than average.
Thankfully, seniors can still find cheaper than average car insurance with Jerry.

Acura TLX insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Apart from age, your driving record holds the most weight for car insurance rates. Drivers with a history of accidents and moving violations will face higher rates than safe drivers with a
clean driving record
Some of the most common driving violations that can lead to high insurance rates include:

Cheapest car insurance for Acura TLX drivers with speeding ticket

Insurance repercussions for a speeding ticket will vary based on the severity of the infarction. For example, car insurance rates won’t increase to the same degree for a ticket going 5 mph over the speed limit as they would for going 15 mph. But if you’re convicted of reckless driving, expect your premiums to go through the roof.
With a bit of help from Jerry, you can find affordable insurance rates—even after speeding.

Cheapest car insurance for Acura TLX drivers with a DUI record

A DUI on your driving record is a serious offense that will cause insurance rates to jump—but by how much depends on the insurer and any prior convictions. Some insurers don’t put as much emphasis on driving records, which means rates may be lower. However, some companies will deny coverage to high-risk drivers altogether, such as those with a DUI.
If you have a prior DUI conviction on your record and don’t want to overpay for insurance, use the Jerry app to help you find the cheapest rate for your driver profile.

Cheapest car insurance for Acura TLX drivers after an accident

A history of at-fault or even a single accident is enough to send your insurance rates through the roof. At-fault accidents are a red flag for insurers and signal you’re a high-risk driver and a risky policyholder. As such, you’ll pay more to insure your car than a driver with an accident-free record.
If you were recently involved in an at-fault accident, shop around with Jerry to avoid overpaying for auto insurance.

How can I lower the cost of insurance for my car?

If you feel you’re overpaying for Acura TLX car insurance, don’t fret—here are some of our best tips to help you save:
  • Shop around: Never settle for the first auto insurance quote you get. Shopping around and comparing quotes from multiple providers allows you to find the cheapest rate for the coverage you need. And to ensure you stay on top of the cheapest rate, shop around every six months for a new policy with either an insurance agent, or a broker, like Jerry.
  • Raise your deductible: All full coverage insurance policies are subject to a
    car insurance deductible
—the amount you pay out of pocket before your comprehensive or collision coverage kicks in. Increasing your deductible to the highest amount you can afford upfront will help lower your monthly payments.
  • Look for driver discounts:
    Car insurance discounts
are one of the easiest ways to save money. Some offer good driver discounts, while others offer safety feature discounts for vehicles with airbags and anti-lock brakes installed. Every insurance provider offers a roster of discounts, but what’s available will depend on your location and the company.
  • Bundle your policies: Insurers always reward loyalty.
Bundling your homeowners and auto insurance
(or auto and renters insurance) with the same carrier can reduce your overall premium cost.

Methodology

The Insurance Research Team analyzes insurance products and services to drive insights and help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
For the quotes and sold policies included in this article, please note that personal information has been hidden. Not all customers find savings.
