2022 Kia Sorento configurations
When shopping for a brand new 2022 Kia Sorento, you’ve got a long list of choices. First, you’ll need to choose between one of the vehicle’s eight trims
. Then, you’ll need to think about your powertrain. The Sorento has a wide selection of engine options and is available with front- or all-wheel drive. A 191-hp 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine is standard, and a 281-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder is available, too. However, those looking to spend less on gas can opt for either a hybrid or plug-in hybrid version of the Sorento.
Finally, you can consider adding on certain packages or options, which may be available depending on which trim you choose. Examples of packages include the Panoramic Sunroof Package and the Towing Package. Optional accessories can also be added, such as special cargo nets and trays, rear-seat entertainment, and an interior lighting kit.
With all these choices in mind, the 2022 Kia Sorento comes in well over 10 configurations. Let’s take a closer look at what you’ll have to choose from.

Kia Sorento S (gas-powered or hybrid)
Next up is the S trim
, which can be had with a standard drivetrain listed above or upgraded to a hybrid version for an MSRP of $35,385. Either way, stepping up to the Sorento S trim brings sport-inspired front and rear bumpers, 18-inch machined wheels, black trim details, roof rails, and more. Kia Sorento X-Line S
The 2022 Sorento comes with several X-Line trims, all of which are designed with off-roading in mind.
In addition to everything the above S comes with, the X-Line S features 1.3 inches of additional ground clearance (8.2 inches total), increased approach and departure angles, a more advanced all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, different front and rear fascia treatments, and 20-inch matte-finish alloy wheels.
Kia Sorento EX (gas-powered or hybrid)
Upgraded amenities on the EX
include leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, remote start, and snazzier styling such as 17-inch wheels and black exterior accents. Once again, it can be had as a gas-powered vehicle, or upgraded to a hybrid model for a starting MSRP of $37,385. Kia Sorento X-Line EX
Once again, you’ll get everything the gas-powered EX above offers, plus the all-terrain X-Line package.
Kia Sorento SX (gas-powered or plug-in hybrid)
The SX trim
upgrades to the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 281 total horsepower. Or, you can opt for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version for a starting MSRP of $46,485. Front-wheel drive is still standard, but you can upgrade to all-wheel drive for an added cost. Exterior upgrades include 20-inch wheels, full LED headlights, and LED taillights. A huge panoramic sunroof is also added. The interior gets a power-adjustable front passenger seat, full LED interior lighting, a wireless charging pad, and satin chrome door handles.
Kia Sorento SX Prestige (gas-powered or plug-in hybrid)
Although the exterior of the Prestige isn’t much different from that of the SX, its interior is considerably more posh. For example, it gets perforated leather seating
upholstery. The front seats have more power adjustability plus heating and ventilation, while the rear captain's chairs are heated. The steering wheel is also heated. Once again, choose between the upgraded, gas-powered turbo engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain for a starting MSRP of $49,385.
