background
You can pick up the practical 2022 Honda HR-V with a starting MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) of $23,115—but that figure doesn’t include the destination fee, the cost for premium exterior colors, or optional package prices.
Even when you do calculate those added costs, the HR-V still entices with a low price, nice fuel economy, and a surprisingly spacious interior that can haul passengers or cargo with more ease than some larger crossovers.
It won’t win any beauty pageants, and it certainly won’t win any races with a 0-to-60-mph time approaching 10 seconds. But it will satisfy the pragmatist who wants an affordable and sensible subcompact SUV.

2022 Honda HR-V MSRP

The 2022 Honda HR-V’s MSRP starts at $23,115 for the front-wheel drive LX model, and even though it’s the lowest trim, this subcompact SUV packs in some of the HR-V’s most popular selling points.
You’ll get Honda’s second-row 60/40-split Magic Seat®, which folds completely flat to accommodate cargo, and you can opt for the optional real-time all-wheel drive—but that will cost another $1,500.
Of course, that’s just the cost of the lowest trim level. If you opt for an upgrade, you’ll pay more. And if you choose something besides the four basic exterior color offerings, you’ll be charged another $395. Finally, every car you buy from a dealership also incurs a $1,225 destination fee, which the retailer charges for transporting the vehicle from Honda to their sale lot.
And one more thing: not all dealerships strictly follow the MSRP. Depending on demand and availability in your area, local dealerships may charge a higher sticker price than you’d expect!

2022 Honda HR-V trim levels MSRP

If you want a little extra out of your HR-V, you should consider a higher trim level than the EX. However, keep in mind that higher trims are connected to a higher price. Here’s how the starting MSRP looks for each of the 2022 HR-V trim levels:
  • HR-V Sport ($25,065 for FWD, $26,565 for AWD): The Sport trim adds a larger touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, plus dual-paddle shifters, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, fog lights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
  • HR-V EX ($26,315 for FWD, $27,815 for AWD): The EX trim brings Honda Sensing driver assistance, heated seats, a moonroof, automatic climate control, HondaLink connectivity with your smartphone, and push-button start.
  • HR-V EX-L ($27,915 for FWD, $29,415 for AWD): The EX-L trim offers everything that the EX has, plus an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-trimmed seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
Again, remember this is only the MSRP for each trim, and they may not reflect your dealership’s pricing. Further, you’ll be charged a destination fee and add-on prices for any options or premium colors you choose. That means, depending on the trim level you choose, your 2022 Honda HR-V could easily cost $30,000 or more!

What is the average price of a 2022 Honda HR-V?

If you want to go buy a 2022 HR-V, you need to know what you should actually expect to pay. According to Kelley Blue Book, the fair market range for a 2022 HR-V LX with FWD and no added options is $21,500 to $22,400
That’s a little less than the MSRP because Honda is rolling out the 2023 HR-V models, so if there are new 2022 HR-Vs left, they need to unload the old inventory.
A 2022 HR-V EX-L could cost between $27,500 and $28,400, and that’s without optional packages, premium colors, or AWD.
