With a starting MSRP of $26,800, the Honda CR-V is available in a variety of configurations that enable drivers to customize their ride—but maxing out on upgrades and packages could mean a price of $42,000 or more.
With stellar fuel economy, a sizable cargo bay, and tons of safety features, it’s easy to see why the Honda CR-V has remained a beloved staple of the crossover SUV segment. While the base model can satisfy the
needs of families
and single drivers alike, opting for upgrades in your CR-V can take this classic crossover from satisfactory to outstanding—but you’ll have some choices to make along the way.
Let’s take a closer look at the configurations you can make with the 2022 Honda CR-V.

2022 Honda CR-V configurations

The 2022 Honda CR-V is available in five unique trims: the LX (base), 2022 Special Edition, EX, EX-L and Touring. As you move up the ladder from the base model rung, you’ll find additional features and perks in upper-level trims—but the first choice to make isn’t whether you want leather-trimmed seats or a heated steering wheel.
Rather, you’ll need to decide between a gasoline-powered or hybrid engine powertrain
For drivers interested in an eco-friendly car that doesn’t come with the same limitations as an all-electric vehicle, the hybrid CR-V’s four-cylinder engine and dual electric motor combo can help you save on fuel without sacrificing power or precious time.
The catch? A hybrid powertrain is only available in the upper-level EX, EX-L and Touring trims.
But the hybrid powertrain does more than just save you gas money—it also comes standard with Real Time All-Wheel Drive (AWD), which is only an optional upgrade for gasoline-powered models.
For traditionalists, the gas-powered CR-V comes equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine coupled to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Capable of 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque, the standard gas engine doesn’t lag far behind its hybrid counterpart (which can generate 212 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque). Gas-powered models are available in front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive, with FWD models seeing slightly better fuel economy.
Standard across every model is the Honda Sensing® suite of driver’s assistance features—but there are other upgrades and packages to consider. Below, we take a closer look at the most popular configurations for the 2022 Honda CR-V.

2022 CR-V LX with FWD or AWD

Starting price: $26,800
Priced just below the $27,000 mark, the base CR-V LX comes standard with FWD, a 1.5L inline- turbo engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, and 60/40 split-rear seating. Other standard features include:
  • 5-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Four-speaker stereo system
  • Front USB port
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Multi-Angle rearview camera
For an additional $1,500 you can upgrade to AWD, but if you’re looking for advanced tech or heated seats, you’ll have to look to a higher trim level.
There are, however, a number of available add-on packages for the base LX, including the exterior Dark Accent Package ($1,212), light-up Illumination Package ($789), useful Utility Package ($1,159), space-saving Cargo Protection Package ($341), off-road ready Rugged Package ($308) and two optional All-Season Protection Packages ranging between $350 and $435.

2022 CR-V Special Edition with FWD or AWD

Starting price: $28,000
What’s so special about the Special Edition trim? In addition to the features listed above, you’ll also have access to tech features that have become the norm—Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated front seats, dual-zone climate controls, and a larger 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Special Edition also promises an upgraded, six-speaker sound system and an additional USB port for front-seat passengers—so drivers who depend on music to make it through their everyday commute may prefer these special upgrades. Like the LX, AWD is available in the Special Edition for an extra $1,500.
On the other hand, if you have your heart set on the features included in Honda’s Illumination package you may want to skip the Special Edition, as these add-ons aren’t available for the trim.

2022 CR-V EX with FWD

Starting price: $29,310
The EX builds on both the base and Special Edition models to mix necessities with niceties—making it the CR-V’s most popular trim. In addition to upgraded standards like push-button start, 18-inch wheels, and a one-touch power moonroof, the mid-level EX trim also features two additional packages:
  • Dark Accent Package B ($2,916): An upgraded version of the standard Dark Accent Package that ups the ante with a gloss black grille and accents, 19-inch wheels, a fender emblem, and more.
  • The All-In Package ($3,467): Includes exterior upgrades listed above, along with a roof rack and basket.

2022 CR-V EX with hybrid powertrain

Starting price: $32,010
Once you hit the EX trim, the CR-V’s 212-hp hybrid powertrain becomes available. With it, you’ll receive standard features like all-wheel drive, LED fog lights and headlights, an eight-speaker stereo system, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-position memory and 18-inch wheels.

2022 CR-V EX-L

Starting price: $31,900 to $34,600
If you’re looking for luxurious-leaning extras such as a power-lift tailgate, a leather-trimmed interior, and auto-dimming mirrors (in addition to added safety features like blind-spot and cross-traffic monitoring) then the high-end EX-L could be for you. Like the EX, the EX-L also comes in an optional hybrid version that makes AWD standard.

2022 CR-V Touring with AWD

Starting price: $36,600
The top-tier Touring trim is the only gas-powered CR-V to feature standard AWD in Honda’s 2022 lineup. At the highest trim, you’ll have access to all the bells and whistles—from a premium nine-speaker stereo system to built-in navigation, wireless phone charging, roof rails and dual-chrome exhaust finishers—in addition to the fundamentals.

2022 CR-V Touring with hybrid powertrain

Starting price: $37,800
In the hybrid Touring, you get everything: top performance, high fuel economy and virtually every feature under the sun. Even the gas-powered Touring lacks some of the tech that the hybrid Touring boasts, like rain-sensing wipers and parking sensors.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
