The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse gets ahead of its competition with its huge storage space, seating options that work for up to eight passengers, and a solid array of technology that is easy to use and reliable.
While the interior design of the Traverse is pretty standard, it’s everything else about the cabin that sets it apart on the inside. It has a sleek exterior and excellent acceleration—but you’ll want to know how the interior is when you’ve got a weekend road trip and everyone has to share the same space for a 10-hour drive to grandma’s house.

2022 Chevrolet Traverse interior

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is a family-friendly SUV with a bit of everything. Its starting price is $33,700 for the base package up to $53,400 for the loaded High Country AWD model. Of course, you might wonder just how much you’ll be getting
Car and Driver argues that the Traverse outperforms its major rivals, including the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, and the Kia Telluride, for starters. Let’s look at what you can expect from a 2022 Traverse.

Seating

You’ll have room for seven to eight passengers thanks to a combination of the two front seats, two folding captain’s chairs in the second row, and a 60/40 split flat-folding 3-passenger bench seat. You have the option to make the second row a 3-passenger bench. You get additional features for the driver and front passenger seats:
  • Heated seats
  • Ventilated seat cushions
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Power seat lumbar control

Tech

With the 202 Traverse, you’ve got some good basics for the interior—nothing flashy but easy-to-use technology. On the plus side of things, you’ll get:
  • A 7-inch touchscreen, with an optional upgrade
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible
  • Bluetooth Wireless Technology
  • Standard Wi-Fi hotspot at no extra charge
  • A standard 6-speaker audio system or an optional upgrade to a 10-speaker Bose system
  • Cruise Control
  • Hands-Free Phone
  • Remote Keyless Entry
  • Plenty of USB Ports
In general, reviewers liked the interior tech options of the 2022 Traverse. The only potential drawback is that some of the nicer features are upgrades, so you would have to pay extra for those. Overall, the technology was considered easy-to-use and responsive.

Storage

The Traverse’s initial storage capacity is 23 cubic feet with the cargo area, but this can expand to 57.8 cubic feet with the third-row seats removed and a whopping 98.2 cubic feet if you use all the available storage area behind the front seats.
The front row is where most of the smaller storage space is, with a cubby space center console between the front seats, plus a standard glove compartment. The front and second rows include door pockets, and the interior has ten cupholders.

Style

Style is where the 2022 Chevy Traverse gets mixed reviews. You get a basic combo of cloth seats and hard plastic trim, though you have some upgrade options. You can opt for a black cloth interior for a more modern look. Several trims include leather options (LT Leather), and even a few color choices depending on the trim:
  • LS: Jet Black/Chai
  • LT Cloth: Jet Black/Chai or Jet Black
  • RS: Jet Black or Spice Red
  • Premier: Jet Black, Jet Black/Chai, or Jet Black/Maple Sugar
  • High Country: Jet Black/Clove
The interior is a good basic finish, and you can splurge on leather upgrades. The reviewers generally rated the interior as decent, but there’s nothing amazing or high-end about the design. If you want to aim for a wow factor in the design, consider the all-black or leather options.
