2022 Audi Q7 Interior Review

Despite a smaller trunk and third row than its rivals, the Audi Q7 distinguishes itself with a stunning cabin and a full list of features.

Although the third row and cargo area are a bit cramped, the interior of the 2022 Audi Q7 is fully equipped and sumptuously appointed.
You might admire a car’s flashy exterior, but every driver knows the moment you fall in love is when you sit behind the steering wheel. That’s where you experience the power of the engine and the thrill of acceleration… plus the comfort of a superb leather bucket seat. No doubt about it—great interiors sell cars.

2022 Audi Q7 interior

In Audi’s catalog, a 2.0L four-cylinder engine is called a 45 TFSI, while a 3.0L V6 is a 55 TFSI. The company’s all-wheel drive system,
Quattro
, is now standard on every model. In its most basic configuration, a ‘22 Q7 45 TFSI Premium costs $58,695, a 45 TFSI
Premium Plus
$61,595, and a 55 TFSI
Prestige
$74,495

Seating

In theory, the seven-seater, three-row SUV can hold the whole family. In practice, the Q7’s third row should be reserved for little kids. Fortunately, Audi’s seats are gorgeous as always—plump without appearing chintzy or losing their contemporary lines.
Here are the best seating options that the Q7 has to offer, and the trims and packages where they can be found:
  • Leather bucket seats, heated front seats, and power-folding third row: All trims
  • Eight-way power front seats with four-way power lumbar adjustments and memory functions for driver: All trims
  • Ventilated 12-way power front seats, leather armrests, and heated rear seats: Prestige, Executive package for Premium Plus ($2,750)
  • Ventilated contour front seats with massage function, upgraded Alcantara leather: Luxury package for Prestige ($5,800)

Tech

Due to budgetary or space concerns, the Q7 doesn't offer as many seating options as sedans like the
A3
. What it does offer is an impressive range of driver assistance technologies. With every trim, you'll get lane-departure warnings, parking sensors, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, and forward collision mitigation with automatic braking.
A fair amount of technology and information is available in the cabin, including:
  • 10.1-Inch infotainment touchscreen with MMI interface
  • 8.6-Inch vehicle settings display
  • Audi Smartphone Interface, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite navigation, audio streaming, and voice controls
  • 10-speaker Audi Sound System with satellite radio
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Digital instrument gauges
  • Tri-zone automatic climate controls
  • Keyless entry and ignition
  • Panoramic sunroof
The MMI interface has been a standout in previous models, offering intuitive controls and sensible organization, but critics believe the dual-display setup has lost its way. It’s hard to operate or understand on the fly, making it unsafe to use on the road.
Drivers would do better to pay attention to the Audi Virtual Cockpit, a 12.3-inch LCD that replaces the traditional dashboard. It's simple, clean, and well-organized, so you can see your route, speed, fuel, and other information at a glance. In addition to the adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist found in the Premium Plus trim, Prestige adds a head-up display on the windshield.

Storage

Tucked into the inner door panels, you'll find door pockets for the convenience of the passengers and driver. Unfortunately, at 14.2 cubic feet, the cargo space behind the third row isn't particularly impressive. You can get 69.6 cu ft by lowering the third row with power controls and the middle seats manually.
Still not enough? Purchase the Tow package ($750) to increase the Q7’s maximum towing capacity from 4,400 lbs to 7,700.

Style

It wouldn't be Audi if the Q7's interior weren't jaw-dropping. Whether it's the seating, the dual displays, or the continuous airflow strip below the windshield, it all flows together. The second-row air conditioning controls provide comfort in just about every corner of the car. With the Prestige trim and the highest seating options, the interior is pure decadence.
Eight upholstery options are available: Black, Metro Gray, Okapi Brown, or Saiga Beige, in standard or Valcona leather. There are a variety of inlays available, from High Gloss Black, through aluminum, anthracite, and carbon, to Oak Grey. For the truly obsessive interior designer, the Audi Exclusive program unlocks a huge array of exterior paint colors, seat stitching colors, and real wood
trim options
at the dealership.
