2021 Nissan Altima configurations

When it comes to shopping for the 2021 Nissan Altima, you have a few major decisions to make. First, you must
choose a trim level
. Five trims are available, each with an increasing amount of bells and whistles.
If you’re not sure which trim to choose, you can first think about what engine you’d like. The Altima has a standard 188-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). However, the SR trim can be upgraded with an optional
turbocharged
2.0-liter four-cylinder.
Finally, you must consider your vehicle’s drivetrain. Front-wheel drive is standard, but certain trims can be upgraded to all-wheel drive. The only caveat? The turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive are not compatible.
Sound confusing? Don’t worry—we’ve created a comprehensive list of all of your options!

Altima S with FWD

Starting price: $25,645
Altima’s entry-level trim, the
S
, is a no-nonsense option, available exclusively with the base 188-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive.
Inside, Altima's cabin provides a straightforward dashboard with user-friendly switchgear. The back seat is large and comfortable, while the trunk can hold 17 bags total with the rear seats folded.
Tech features include a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, remote start, proximity keyless entry, and two USB ports. In terms of safety, forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking are standard. The available Driver Assist package ($475) adds a surround-view parking camera system, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

Altima SV with FWD or AWD

Starting price: $26,645
Next up is the
SV
trim, which is still equipped with the standard 2.5-liter engine, but can be had in all-wheel drive for an additional $1,400.
The SV pumps up the connectivity features. It has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, as well as a bigger 8-inch touchscreen. Safety-wise, it gets blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors, and LED headlights.
The available SV Premium package ($1,800) adds ProPilot Assist, a moonroof, and heated front seats.

Altima SR 2.5 with FWD or AWD

Starting price: $27,645
Here’s where things start to get confusing! The next trim level up is the SR, which—when equipped with the standard 2.5-liter engine—can be had in FWD or AWD.
Along with a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch wheels, the
SR
has a host of desirable features that include an eight-way power driver's seat, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an upgraded digital gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more.

Altima SR 2.0 with FWD

Starting price: $30,900
The SR is the only trim level that can be had with the optional upgraded 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which makes up to 248 horsepower with premium fuel and also uses the CVT. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive is not compatible with this powertrain option.

Altima SL with FWD or AWD

Starting price: $31,085
The next most luxurious trim, the
SL
, requires buyers to return to the standard 2.5-liter engine option. However, once again, FWD is standard, while AWD is available for an extra fee.
Upgraded features on the SL include dual-zone automatic temperature control, rear passenger air conditioning vents, a remote engine start system with intelligent climate control, leather-appointed seats plus wood trim, heated front seats and steering wheel, Nissan door-to-door navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, NissanConnect Services, and a Bose Premium Audio System.

Altima Platinum with AWD

Starting price: $35,345
At the top of the line is the
Platinum
—the only trim level that comes standard with all-wheel drive. Other exclusive features to this trim include 19-inch alloy wheels, a surround-view camera, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and a Homelink transceiver.
Driver memory seat and mirror, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and unique cabin accent lighting are standard.
