The most you can tow with a 2021 Lincoln Aviator is 6,700 pounds, though you will need to make sure your model is equipped with the proper axle configuration and engine to meet this maximum.
The 2021 Lincoln Aviator is a luxury vehicle that is based on the Ford Explorer. With a strong engine, upscale interior design, and comfortable ride quality, this SUV is definitely not one to miss if you’re looking for something that will help you with your travel needs while preserving a luxurious experience.
Also important for traveling is towing—and the 2021 Aviator can help you with that as well. We have broken down exactly how much you can expect to tow with the 2021 Lincoln Aviator, along with some other helpful information!

2021 Lincoln Aviator towing capacity

Towing capacity on the 2021 Lincoln Aviator will depend on which trim and axle configuration you choose, so let’s take a quick look at those. The 2021 Aviator has five trims
  • Standard
  • Reserve
  • Black Label
  • Grand Touring
  • Grand Touring Black Label
Essentially, if you have any of these trims with all-wheel drive (AWD) equipped, you can tow up to 5,600 pounds with your 2021 Lincoln Aviator. AWD is an option on the first two trims and comes standard on the latter three. If you want to reach the maximum 6,700-pound towing capacity, you need to have a gas-powered trim (not hybrid) equipped with the Class IV Trailer Tow Package.
Keep in mind that there is a 55 sq ft limitation on a trailer frontal area. Exceeding that limitation may significantly reduce the performance of the Aviator.

Lincoln Aviator towing technology

This is a lot of capacity and power, and you might be wondering how a luxury SUV like the Lincoln Aviator is even able to pull this off. Axle configuration is important—having all-wheel drive plays an important part in getting to those 5,000+ pound values. But that’s not all the Aviator has up its sleeve.
The Standard, Reserve, and Black Label trims are powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower. The Grand Touring and Grand Touring Black Label trims have a more powerful turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 hybrid engine that produces up to 494 horsepower. These engines are very strong and are able to deliver the performance needed to reach those tow capacities.
That’s not all the 2021 Aviator has to offer. The Class IV trailer package, which is needed if you want to tow up to 6,700 pounds, has a 250-Amp Alternator, Class IV Hitch receiver, Blind Spot Detection, Smart Trailer Tow, and Trailer Sway Control. This makes for a very good experience as it provides a tailored approach to towing.

Does the 2021 Lincoln Aviator come with a trailer hitch?

No—a trailer hitch doesn’t come standard with the 2021 Lincoln Aviator, but you can get an optional factory-installed trailer hitch receiver as it is included with the Class IV Trailer Tow package. The hitch receiver itself has a maximum towing load of 670 pounds.
The receiver does not come with a hitch ball or ball mounting—you will be responsible for finding a proper hitch ball, ball mounting, or any other equipment needed to tow the trailer and cargo load.
