2020 Nissan Rogue fuel economy

The fuel economy of the 2020 Nissan Rogue depends on what drivetrain your vehicle is equipped with. All models are powered by a 170-horsepower 2.5L four-cylinder engine paired with Nissan’s Xtronic automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard, but upgrading to all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional—at the expense of some fuel.
FWD drive models get an EPA-rated 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. AWD decreases those numbers slightly, for an average of 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
With only one engine size, the 2020 Nissan Rogue gas tank is 14.5 gallons across the board, regardless of what drivetrain your Rogue has. While the Rogue works well on regular unleaded fuel, upgrading to premium is a great way to optimize its performance—but it also will increase your fuel costs.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the average costs to keep your 2020 Rogue fueled up average about $162.50 a month for FWD models and $175 a month for AWD models.
However, the amount you’ll actually pay will depend on how you drive and where you live. Aggressive driving habits tend to burn gas quicker. And if you live in an area where gas prices are through the roof, you can bet your bottom dollar you’re wallet might be hurting a bit.
In any case, there are simple ways to reduce fuel usage—like driving modestly and opting for the highway whenever possible.

How to improve fuel efficiency for a 2020 Nissan Rogue

Whether you’re considering buying a used 2020 Nissan Rogue or already have one, paying fuel bills is never enjoyable. So if you’re looking to save a few bucks on car expenses, optimizing your fuel economy is a great place to start.
Here are a few tips and tricks to optimize fuel usage in your Rogue:
  • Avoid heavy acceleration—it burns gas like nobody's business! Easing onto the accelerator helps to reduce fuel usage. Pretend as if there’s a cup of coffee on your dash, and try not to spill it.
  • Use cruise control to maintain a steady speed and avoid dips and bursts. The more your speed varies, the more fuel you use.
  • Regular maintenance helps ensure your Rogue stays in optimal driving condition and keeps your fuel usage to a minimum. Low tire pressure can be a major gas-guzzler.
  • Reduce your vehicle’s weight by removing unnecessary items. A heavier vehicle burns more fuel.
  • Avoid idling your car. The average vehicle with a 3.0L engine burns roughly 0.3L (about 1 cup) of fuel for every 10 minutes it idles.

How to save on 2020 Nissan Rogue insurance costs

Fuel costs are a big consideration when buying a new car. If you’re looking for something good on gas, investing in an XL nine-seater probably isn’t the best way to go.
But on top of fuel economy, the vehicle's purchase price can be a big deciding factor. Opting for the top-level fully-loaded model may come with all the flashy bells and whistles, but it also comes with a flashy price tag. To maximize your savings, the base model Rogue comes loaded with most features a driver could want—and it doesn’t have a sky-high price.
