The 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe feels much more spacious than other coupes, but its interior is less than luxury.

With a starting price of $45,945, the 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe is impressively spacious compared to other 2-door sporty vehicles, but its interior aesthetics don’t exactly live up to its luxury moniker.
If you’re in the market for a luxury coupe, we bet you prioritize fun over practicality. After all, no one expects to be able to haul their families around in a tiny two-door vehicle. What are BMW 4 Series Coupes great for, though? Cruising around in the summer sun, especially if you opt for the hard-top convertible!

Speedy and surprisingly spacious: the 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe

What do we love most about the 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe? At a starting price of $45,945, this little guy is simply fun to drive.
You can’t go wrong with either engine: the peppy turbocharged four-cylinder offers 248 horsepower, while the upgraded turbocharged inline-six offers 320. Whichever you choose, there’s simply no denying that BMW knows how to build an engine. You’ll blast from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 4.4 seconds, while still enjoying a smooth and relaxing ride.
Inside, you’ll find comfortable seats for the driver and front passenger, and relatively spacious accommodations in the back seat, which is rarely the case with coupes.
Unfortunately, interior cubby space is nonexistent, so you’ll end up tossing your loose change and small goods into the cupholders.
That’s not the only disappointing thing about the interior. In general, the materials used feel a bit lackluster, especially when compared to other BMWs.

Is the 2020 BMW 4 Series comfortable?

Despite the interior's shocking simplicity, it is incredibly comfortable! The driver’s seat is in an excellent position, perfect for cruising around town or racing down the highway. Standard front sport seats are firm and supportive.
The back seat is quite spacious, at least for a luxury coupe. 36.1 inches of headroom plus 33.7 inches of legroom mean that two adults probably won’t love sitting in the back seat, but two children can certainly fit comfortably.
Upgrading to the M Sport Package offers drivers a unique leather-wrapped steering wheel that feels as amazing as it looks.

Is the 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe reliable?

The 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe has a predicted reliability score of 81 out of 100, which is considered “great” on the J.D. Power reliability scale.
So far, the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
has only issued 1 recall on the vehicle.
Ultimately, only time will tell exactly how reliable the 2020 4 Series is, but a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty will cover any issues that do arise in the vehicle’s early years.

Is the 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe safe?

Like many other luxury vehicles, the 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe hasn’t been safety tested by the NHTSA, nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
But that doesn’t mean that the 4 Series Coupe is unsafe! Key standard safety features include forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, while optional adaptive cruise control and self-parking assist are available as upgrades.

2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe trim levels

The 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe’s trims are straightforward: choose between the 430i, equipped with a 4-cylinder engine, and the 440i, which boasts an inline-6 engine, and then decide if you’d like a regular coupe or a hardtop two-door convertible.
Here’s the price breakdown for the four available trims:
All other options and upgrades are available as standalone packages. Automatic transmission is standard, but you can switch to a manual transmission at no cost. Upgrading to all-wheel drive costs an additional $2,000.
You can upgrade your 4 Series’ upholstery for an additional $1,450, which helps the otherwise boring interior feel a little bit more luxe. The M Sport package further enhances driving character with a sportier suspension and includes unique bodywork and exclusive interior features for $3,400.
The Track Handling package is a bit more affordable ($1,700) and includes adaptive dampers, upgraded brakes, stickier tires, and variable steering, but doesn’t make any aesthetic changes.
