The most common 2019 Jeep Renegade problems

There’s a lot to love about the 2019 Jeep Renegade. Its turbocharged engine is powerful and its off-road prowess notable. The Trailhawk model has 8.7 inches of ground clearance and is able to traverse waters 19 inches deep!
But the Jeep Renegade is far from perfect, and its problems range from petty to significant. Engine and electrical system trouble are among the more serious issues reported by 2019 Renegade drivers. Some drivers reported their Renegades going limp while operating. When this happened, warning lights on the Renegade’s dashboard came on and the vehicles were disabled until they were turned off and restarted.
“Limp Mode” was mentioned in three out of the 27 complaints filed to the NHTSA. Other 2019 Jeep Renegade problems reported to the NHTSA include the following:
  • Engine overheating at high speeds
  • Airbags failing to deploy in accident
  • Vehicle failing to shift at high speeds or in cold weather
  • Heated seats and radio turning off randomly
There are also three recalls for the 2019 Jeep Renegade:
  • A software error that causes the rearview image camera to be displayed for too long, possibly distracting the driver and increasing the risk of a collision.
  • An incorrectly calibrated Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) that may increase the risk of injury in a collision.
  • Incorrect software that may cause the ORC to disable safety features that may increase the risk of injury in a collision.

Is the 2019 Jeep Renegade reliable?

While Jeeps are not typically known for their reliability, the 2019 Jeep Renegade has above-average reliability ratings for its division.
RepairPal gives the 2019 Jeep Renegade a 4.0/5.0 reliability rating, but the vehicle has not been reviewed by J.D. Power. The average annual repair cost is about $498 per year, which is less than some other subcompact SUVs. Both the frequency and severity of repairs are below-average, so the Jeep Renegade can be classified as a reliable SUV.
That said, if you’re looking for the most reliable vehicles on the road, you may want to stick with manufacturers like Honda, Toyota, or Kia, which are known for their reliability. The 2022
Honda CR-V
receives a 4.5/5.0 reliability rating from RepairPal, and J.D. Power rates it 84/100.
