The 2019 Acura ILX includes plenty of standard equipment and comfy seats, offering a mostly impressive interior space for the price.
What makes the Acura ILX fancier than the Civic, its cheaper Honda equivalent? One answer is a more luxurious interior, equipped with additional standard features: a sunroof, heated sport seats with power adjustments for the driver, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a suite of driver-assistance features. But are these upgrades truly worth the added cost?
To provide you with a clearer picture of the 2019 Acura ILX’s interior, Jerry, your favorite car insurance broker and automotive super app, has created this handy guide. We’ll talk about seats, cargo, technology, and overall style, so you know exactly what’s going on inside this luxury sedan.

2019 Acura ILX interior

The 2019 Acura ILX has an original starting MSRP of just $26,895 — which is not bad for a luxury sedan! However, when you compare it to the Honda Civic, which starts at $20,505, you might wonder if the extra cash is truly worth it.
When considering a luxury vehicle, a major factor to consider is the interior. Let’s take a closer look at the interior of the 2019 Acura ILX.

Seating

The 2019 ILX is a subcompact executive car, meaning that it’s meant to be smaller than your typical sedan. It offers seating for five and—like most vehicles in its class—the back seats can feel a bit cramped, especially for larger adults.
The front seats, however, are extremely comfortable, plus they’re decked out with heat and power adjustments for the driver. The back seats also fold down, allowing you to extend the trunk space and fit larger items!
If you want specifics, here are the exact interior dimensions:
Interior dimensions
Total passenger volume89.3 cubic feet
Front headroom38.0 inches
Front legroom42.3 inches
Front shoulder room55.6 inches
Front hip room50.3 inches
Second-row headroom35.9 inches
Second-row legroom34.0 inches
Second-row shoulder room53.6 inches
Second-row hip room51.7 inches

Tech

Standard technological equipment is plentiful in the ILX — you’ll enjoy a sunroof, heated seats with driver-side power adjustments, and dual-zone automatic climate control, as well as a long list of driver-assistance features including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking.
Like most newer Acuras, you’ll also love remote keyless entry, a push-to-start engine, and Bluetooth wireless technology with a hands-free phone system, audible text messaging, and a voice recognition system
Disappointingly, a touchscreen infotainment system isn't standard on the base model — you’ll have to upgrade to a Premium, Technology, or A-Spec model for an 8.0-inch unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

Storage

The ILX offers 12.4 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk — which is pretty standard for a small sedan. For reference, a carryon suitcase is about 3 cubic feet in volume, so you should be able to fit about 4 bags without issue.
Of course, you won’t be able to move giant pieces of furniture, but you can fold down the second row of seats to squeeze in larger items.

Style

So you know how many people you can fit, the technology they’ll all have access to, and how much cargo you can drive around with — now let’s get to the good stuff!
When it comes to luxury vehicles, style is one of the primary factors that takes a vehicle from basic to opulent. Unfortunately, the 2019 ILX leaves something to be desired, as it looks a bit dated
It does come with some exciting interior color choices, including Ebony, new-for-2019 Espresso, and an Ebony-and-Red combo on the sporty A-Spec trim level. However, the navigation system is stuck in the early 2000s, and plastic details look a bit cheap.
Upgrading trims make the infotainment system marginally better, but even the most expensive options lack air vents in the cramped back seats.
It might sound like you’re better off with the Honda Civic — however, keep in mind that the ILX is equipped like the top-of-the-line Civics, and still a bit more stylish, so the pricing might not be that different.
