The most common 2018 Infiniti QX60 problems

The 2018 Infiniti QX60 has seen a relatively small number of problems compared to other cars on the market. However, most reported problems seem to relate to one of the car’s most important systems—the powertrain.
The most commonly-reported problem related to the Infiniti QX60’s powertrain is shaking that occurs in the steering wheel and rear of the car on turns at certain speeds. Different drivers have theories around suspension issues or shuttering transmissions, and some drivers have even reported problems accelerating and drivetrain failure under similar circumstances.
However, the most frustrating complaint that customers seem to have is that dealerships and service centers repeatedly fail to supply a solution to this problem. The rear shaking is written off as a byproduct of the car’s design, despite several customers experiencing resistance when it comes to steering and acceleration.
Six of 19 complaints submitted to the NHTSA had to do with these types of powertrain issues. Another six pertained to a service brake recall from November 2019 stating that the brake fluid could leak onto the circuit board and cause electrical failure or fire. Two complaints pertained to a shattering sunroof, believed to be a manufacturing problem by owners but chalked up to an impact of some sort by Infiniti repair services.
Other common complaints about the 2018 Infiniti QX60 include poor rear visibility and instrument panel styling.

Is the 2018 Infiniti QX60 reliable?

J.D. Powers gives the 2018 Qx60 an overall 75/100 rating for quality and reliability. RepairPal also gives it a subpar 3.5/5.0 rating when it comes to reliability.
So, how does it stack up against its rivals? The 2018 QX60’s ratings are right on par with ratings for the 2018
Nissan Pathfinder
. The 2018
Acura MDX
—one of the
Infiniti QX60’s biggest competitors
, scores slightly better with a 4.0/5.0 rating from RepairPal and a score of 78/100 from J.D. Power.
Given the nature of powertrain problems and the seeming lack of concern from Infiniti dealerships, it should come as little surprise that the 2018 Infiniti QX60 receives mediocre reliability ratings. And yet the 2018 Infiniti QX60 still manages an average annual repair cost of $639—much lower than the average costs for other luxury SUVs.
