2017 Ford Escape interior

Starting at an estimated $19,000 and topping out at about $24,000, the value of the 2017 Ford Escape is one of its biggest strengths. While the Escape comes with modern, streamlined technology features that make it easy to listen to your music hands-free and load cargo, this budget-friendly car doesn’t necessarily top the charts when it comes to style.

Seating

The 2017 Escape is offered in three trims: S, SE, and Titanium. With seating for five, the 2017 Ford Escape S comes with padded cloth upholstery for a comfortable ride. The second row is split 60:40 and provides comfortable seating that reclines and folds down completely if you need to create more cargo space.
Once you move up in class to the SE Trim, the cloth upholstery can be upgraded to your choice of leather or premium synthetic upholstery.  Other upgrades include a position memory feature for the driver’s seat, lumbar support, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The Titanium 4WD trim comes with all of the aforementioned features.

Tech and stereo

The 2017 Ford Escape comes standard with Ford’s MyKey system, a powerful six-speaker stereo, and voice-activated SYNC infotainment interface. The steering wheel on the 2017 Ford Escape has been upgraded with a streamlined control system allowing you to make easy audio adjustments right from your steering wheel.
Available for both the SE and Titanium trims is Ford’s much-heralded SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system. Compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the SYNC 3 system allows you to control audio settings, stream Spotify, and get real-time weather updates.
It’s also a WiFi hotspot providing internet connectivity throughout the cabin. The 4.2-inch LCD screen in the center stack has a precise response time, which makes navigating the system a breeze.
The SYNC 3 system comes standard with the top level Titanium trim, in addition to a Sony 10-speaker sound system with HD radio.

Cargo space

With 34 cubic feet of cargo space available behind the second row of seating, the Ford Escape has one of the highest cargo capacities in its class. Fold down the rear seats and you double the cargo space to 68 cubic feet.
A few features are especially noteworthy here. First, the Escape’s low cargo floor makes it easy to load and unload heftier items. Second, the enlarged center console bin is an upgrade from the 2016 Escape. Finally, the Titanium trim gives you a foot-wave activated liftgate for when you don’t have a free hand to open the rear door.

Style

The 2017 Escape has an overall contoured, modern style, with the modern “swoopy” fashion of the cockpit being a bold design addition.  However, its emphasis on affordability and practicality mean that it doesn’t quite have the aesthetic edge of some competitors.
The base level S trim leaves something to be desired in terms of the interior style. The SE and Titanium trims allow for a sportier, sleeker look if you opt for things like the seating upgrade packages.
