! Style in a small package: the 2017 BMW 4 Series Coupe
After splitting from the 3 Series in 2014, the BMW 4 Series has only gotten more athletic. A 10/10 rating on Car and Driver reflects 2017’s perfect combination of brute force and refinement.
The base 430i trim
($43,145) features a 2.0L turbo inline-four gas engine that generates 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. An optional 3.0L turbo inline-six provides 320 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque in the more powerful 440i ($49,495). For an additional $2,000, the coupe can be equipped with all-wheel xDrive; a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission are both complimentary. Your choice of powertrain, drive train, and transmission determines not only your starting price but your fuel economy. Pick wisely, because the 2017 4 Series only drinks premium gas!

According to Kelley Blue Book
, you can buy a used 2017 BMW 4 Series coupe for about $25,000. That’s about the same price as a new, budget car, and considering the features below, it's a great deal! MORE: Is premium gas worth the price?
Is the 2017 BMW 4 Series Coupe comfortable?
The good news is that you should be able to fit all your luggage in the trunk's 15.7 cubic feet. The bad news is that the four-seater 4 Series would get high marks for its supportive sports seats—if they weren't also so cramped in the back. As it is, the front and rear have an 8.5-inch difference in legroom.
By contrast, drivers and front passengers enjoy 10-way power seating controls and optional heating and lumbar support. Seat options include premium synthetic Sensatec upholstery in Black, Black/Red, or Venetian Beige; 10 Dakota leather colors; and four BMW Individual Merino leather colors. You can customize the door, dash, and instrument panel inserts with nine interior trims (including three premium BMW Individual choices).
Is the 2017 BMW 4 Series Coupe reliable?
In its 2017 list of premium compact cars, JD Power awarded the BMW 4 Series bronze while rating it 90/100 for reliability and quality. It's shocking, then, that Consumer Reports only gave it a 1/5.
Why the disparity? It appears that CR survey respondents in 2017 reported more issues with the model's electronics, drive system, and cooling system.

Is the 2017 BMW 4 Series Coupe safe?
Both the NHTSA and IIHS did not rate the 2017 4 Series Coupe. All the standard features are there though, like a backup camera, lane-departure warning system, and rear parking sensor. Besides traction and stability control, you also get braking assistance.
If you want to upgrade, look for a model with lane-keeping assistance, cross-traffic alerts, and adaptive cruise control. All three can be found in the Driving Assistance Professional package($1,700) or in the even more generous Driver Assistance Plus package. In the latter, a camera system on the side and top watches out for accidents, along with an early collision warning system.

RECOMMENDEDThis app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message!
