The 2017 Audi S7 has a zero-to-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds thanks to its highly capable, turbocharged 450-hp V8 engine. A sloped rear roofline adds more performance dynamic to this speedy mid-size hatchback.
Designed as a more thrilling version of the Audi A7 luxury hatchback, the Audi S7 amps up the standard A7’s engine power by over 100 horses and throws in standard AWD and adaptive suspension on top. But while the S7 easily boasts a speedy 0-60 acceleration, how does it compare to similarly equipped vehicles?

2017 Audi S7 0-60 time

The 2017 Audi S7 can hit 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. That said, the 2016 S7 model with the same engine power and torque hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds when tested by drivers at Car and Driver.
Needless to say, the 2017 S7 is a decidedly fast hatchback. ProfessCars™ estimates the S7 to have a 13.1-second quarter-mile time and 11.4-second 0-100 mph time. The 2016 S7 tested by Car and Driver received a 9.7 second 0-100 mph time, however, and hit the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds at 113 mph.

Which Audi S7 engine is the fastest?

The 2017 Audi S7 only has one engine option—a 4.0 L twin-turbocharged V8 capable of 450-hp and 406 lb-ft of torque
While the 2017 S7’s twin-turbo outshines the A7’s standard 3.0 L 333-hp supercharged V6, the RS 7 Performance model puts the most power under this hatchback’s hood with a 605-hp twin-turbo V8
Equipped with any of its engines, however, the 2017 Audi A7 is no snoozer of a vehicle. Even the A7’s lowest-powered standard engine hits zero-to-60 mph in a respectable 5.2 seconds. On the other end of the spectrum, the RS 7 Performance model only needs 3.2 seconds to hit 60 mph.

Can it beat the competition?

The 2017 Audi S7 impresses when it comes to its acceleration, and perhaps unexpectedly so. But let’s take a look at some 0-60 times from comparable 2017 luxury cars with similar engine power and torque:
Running between a 3.9- and 4.5-second 0-60 mph time depending on the source, the 2017 Audi S7 holds up well against competitors. It easily outruns the Jaguar XJL, Lexus LS, and BMW 6 series, and comes in just faster than its arguably more obvious rival, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.
While the Porsche Panamera may give the S7 a run for its money, it also costs more money—starting at a whopping $101,000 compared to the S7’s more manageable $79,900 starting MSRP
With a fair market value lingering around $50,000, though, the 2017 S7 is no cheap set of wheels itself. Its price tag is about on par with other sport-tuned, high-performance luxury cars—so you may want to opt for the standard (slightly slower) A7 if you want to cut back expenses.

How to shop for car insurance in record time

Costs for the 2017 Audi S7 don’t end with its initial buying price—because it's made with pricier materials, like aluminum, its insurance rates run higher, too. However, the Porsche Panamera’s insurance costs run even higher for the same reason.
But owning a high-speed luxury car doesn’t mean settling for astronomical insurance prices—
