The oil change service light on your RDX indicates that it’s time to change the oil—but it won’t turn off on its own once you’ve completed the service. You’ll have to go into your vehicle’s settings yourself, which can get confusing.

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2015 Acura RDX

The Acura RDX Maintenance Minder™ system helps you stay on top of all the regular services your RDX needs—but it needs to be reset after every oil change or it won’t track the correct interval between changes.
Luckily, resetting the engine oil life on a 2015 RDX is fairly straightforward. You’ll use the buttons on your steering wheel to navigate through the multi-information display to “Oil Life Reset Mode.” Here’s how:
  • Begin by turning the vehicle’s power on without starting the engine.
  • Use the INFO button on your steering wheel to highlight the Customize Settings menu, then press the SEL/RESET button.
  • Next, use the SEL/RESET button to select Maintenance Info from the menu.
  • Scroll using the up/down buttons until you find “Reset,” then select it using SEL/RESET.
The engine oil life display on your dashboard should reset to 100%. When it’s time for your next oil change, the oil change light should come back on, reminding you to replace the oil and the oil filter.

How often does a 2015 Acura RDX need an oil change?

Acura recommends using synthetic motor oil and scheduling an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles for the 2015 RDX. An oil service keeps your RDX running smoothly and can prevent
serious damage to your engine
, making it one of the most important maintenance items for any RDX owner.
You can replace your oil and oil filter at home following the steps laid out in your
owner’s manual
. You can save around $100 by performing this service on your own, but you’ll need to remember to do the maintenance reset yourself.
If you’re only changing the oil, it’s fairly easy to reset the oil light at home. But if it won’t reset, or if there’s another service due, you may need to bring the RDX to an auto repair shop or Acura dealership for service from trained technicians.
