Class with the top down: the 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible

The all-new 2014 BMW 4 Series replaced the two-door version of the BMW 3 Series, delivering a slightly larger and sleeker design in either a coupe or convertible along with a potent new engine that sets the luxury compact car apart from its former self.

The 4 Series comes with one of two powerful engines: The first is a 2-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that generates 24 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. When equipped with standard eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, you can expect an EPA-rated 27 combined mpg for city and highway driving.

If that’s not enough power for you, opt for the more robust 3-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that growls with 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. If you add on the same standard eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, your fuel economy will go down a few pegs to an EPA-rated 25 combined mpg.

All-wheel drive is optional, as well as a six-speed manual transmission at no cost though it's not available in all-wheel drive inline-4 models.

For a compact vehicle, the 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible is comfortable and supportive enough for daily commuting and longer trips. Leatherette upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control come standard in the 4 Series to ensure an enjoyable ride for all passengers.

Even the back seat is adequate enough for two adults with plenty of legroom and headroom. But of course, if you opt for the convertible over the coupe, headroom shouldn’t be an issue.
