background
To find a 2012 Honda Fit radio code, look inside the glove compartment for a small decal sticker—it should have the anti-theft radio code clearly labeled on it. If that doesn't work, you can check the owner's manual or look the code up online using your Honda's vehicle identification number.
If your battery recently died—or you had to disconnect it—when the power came back on, you probably found that your radio was locked. If it's prompting you for a code, you'll need to enter the anti-theft radio code before the stereo will work again.
Odds are you haven't memorized your car's radio code. Don't worry. It's not difficult to look up and recover a car's radio code. To help walk you through the process

Why your 2012 Honda Fit needs a radio code

It might seem strange to enter a security code whenever your car's battery gets disconnected. As inconvenient as this requirement might be, there's a very good reason why it's needed.
Car radios are among the most commonly stolen components in any vehicle. The anti-theft radio code, as the name implies, is an added security precaution designed to discourage potential radio thieves.
If the radio is completely disconnected from a power source, it will require a radio code the next time it is turned on to continue working. The idea is that if someone removes the radio from your car, they will not be able to use it without the code. This effectively makes the radio useless to a thief, removing any motivation for breaking into your car to steal it.
Just like an email password, though, the anti-theft radio code security system can be just as much of an inconvenience for you as it is for a thief if you don’t know your own radio code.

How to find your 2012 Honda Fit radio code

Luckily, it's very easy to find a 2012 Honda Fit radio code. The first thing you should try is simply holding down the power button on your radio for two seconds. The radio should then reset itself. When you turn it on again, it should start up normally. This method allows you to unlock your radio without even recovering the code!
If resetting the radio does not work, you can still unlock it using the code. Look inside your glove compartment. On one side, there should be a decal sticker with some writing on it. The serial number for your radio unit and your radio code will be printed on that sticker. The radio code is a five-digit number that will be labeled clearly as: “Anti-Theft Radio Code.”
Putting that five-digit code into the radio when it prompts should unlock it.
If that sticker is missing, you can also find your anti-theft radio code in the owner's manual for your Honda Fit.

How to look up a 2012 Honda Fit radio code

If you can’t find the code in your glove compartment or your owner's manual, don’t worry. All you need to do is go online to the
Honda OEM website
and look up your radio code using your radio unit’s serial number and
Honda vehicle identification number
(VIN).
If you don't know your VIN, you can find it on most official documents concerning your car, such as your insurance card or your car’s registration. It may also be on the driver-side door jamb or the dashboard below the driver's side of the windshield.
As for the radio’s serial number, you can find that on the decal sticker in your glove compartment or the owner's manual
You can also get the serial number by pressing and holding the one and six preset buttons simultaneously. At the same time, turn your Honda ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. The 10-digit serial number will display across the radio’s interface.
Once you have both the serial number and the VIN, head to the Honda website, enter those numbers when prompted, and you'll get your radio code.
If those methods fail, call Honda’s customer service at 1-800-999-1009
