It’s always exciting when a vehicle comes out with new and improved updates for the upcoming model year. Recently,
Hyundai
has unveiled new features for their 2023 Santa Cruz, including standard safety features, an all-new Night trim added to the lineup, and more.
But, with updated features comes updated, more expensive prices. Here’s everything you need to know about the new 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz, including if the updates are worth the money.

Updates and price increases to the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz

The base price of the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz has jumped $1,010 to start at $26,745, but the price increase does come with new features. The biggest benefits are the updated safety features that now come standard with all Hyundai Santa Cruz models.
According to
Car and Driver
, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are now included in all models of the Santa Cruz, not just the more expensive trims. While the SE base trim goes up over $1,000 for these features, other trims don’t have as drastic of a difference.
The SEL trim is up just $150 to start at $29,085, and the top-of-the-line Limited model rises by the same amount for a starting price of $41,615.
Unfortunately, the trim between the SEL and the Limited, the SEL Premium, jumped in price by $1,220 and now starts at $37,425.

An all-new Night trim joins the lineup

Although the improved safety features are great, the biggest news about the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz is the addition of the Night trim to the lineup.
According to
Jalopnik
, the Santa Cruz Night trim starts at $37,105 and comes with an impressive turbocharged I4 engine that produces 241hp.
As the name suggests, everything about the Santa Cruz Night mode is dark. Outside, the vehicle features a dark chrome grille, dark 20-inch wheels, gloss black mirrors, and door handles.
Plus, there are dark front and rear lower fascias and side steps. The interior is similar, featuring dark leather accents, quality materials, and a dark steering wheel.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz worth it?

In our opinion, the answer to if the 2023
Hyundai Santa Cruz
is worth it depends on the trim you’re purchasing. If you’re interested in the SEL or Limited, the prices only increased marginally, which makes them still worth the money.
Similarly, the SE price increased a bit, but drivers get new safety features, which makes the price increase justified and worth it to have a safer vehicle. But, the sharp increase in the SEL Premium just doesn’t seem worth it for what you’re getting.
And of course, the Hyundai Santa Cruz Night trim is definitely worth it if you like the dark mode look, and you’re getting an impressive and powerful engine to boot. Overall, most 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz trims are a worthwhile investment, even with the price increases for this model year.
