background
With car prices as insane as they are these days, we all want vehicles that will last as long as possible. Thankfully, as technology improves, more and more of us can expect that our vehicles might accumulate lots of miles, especially if we keep up with proper
car maintenance
.
If you're wondering what cars could give you the best shot at reaching that coveted 200,000-mile mark, read on for some possibilities.

Toyota Land Cruiser tops the list of 200,000-mile vehicles

One trend that's easy to spot on
Business Insider'
s list of vehicles most likely to reach 200,000 miles is that many of the top contenders are SUVs. One example is the Toyota Land Cruiser, and it's really no surprise to anyone familiar with it that it occupies the number one position on the list.
If you can believe it, some 15.7 percent of Land Cruisers sold already have at least 200,000 miles on them. So, clearly, they've got a reputation for being super reliable. Why else would people be so willing to plunk down their hard-earned cash for a car with that many miles on it?
Though the Land Cruiser is no longer available new in the United States, you can still snag an older model. A 2021 Land Cruiser offers 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, along with four-wheel drive and a V8 engine. You certainly won't save money on gas with a Land Cruiser, though: it gets only 14 mpg.

Toyota also scores the number two spot on the list

The Land Cruiser's cousin the Toyota Sequoia comes in at number two on the list of vehicles most likely to hit the century mark twice. Business Insider indicates that 9.2 percent of Sequoias come to their new owners with at least 200,000 miles on them, which is a pretty impressive stat.
A 2022 Sequoia comes with 381 hp, according to
Car and Driver
. It also offers 401 lb-ft of torque and four-wheel drive. With a starting price of around $64,000, it's significantly cheaper than the Land Cruiser while offering many of the same benefits.

This sedan has a good reputation for reaching 200,000 miles

If an SUV isn't really what you're after, but you're looking to snag a reliable sedan, you may once again want to turn to Toyota. The Toyota Avalon is the highest-ranking sedan on Business Insider's list, coming in at number 13.
2.6 percent of Avalons sold have reached the 200,000 mark. In fact, the 2022 Avalon was ranked number one in large cars by
US News
. It comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of 301 hp and 267 pound-feet of torque. This front-wheel-drive car also has an 8-speed automatic transmission.
