Car technology
has been advancing at a rapid pace over the past few years. From futuristic features like
self-driving
, to fun features like car video games, there’s no shortage of awesome technology for drivers to enjoy.

Self-driving technology

If we can’t get flying cars just yet, self-driving technology has to be the next best thing when it comes to new tech features in cars. Many automakers are testing out vehicles with autonomous driving. Most notably is Tesla, which has many autonomous vehicles, but brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Cadillac also have the impressive technology.
While drivers can’t sit back and relax while the car drives just yet, self-driving technology requires minimal effort from the driver. Forward-facing radars, multiple cameras, a high-precision braking system, ultrasonic sensors, and more, are all used to create self-driving technology.

In-car gaming

Another interesting technology feature many car brands are experimenting with is in-car gaming. According to
CarScoops
, this most notably comes from BMW, which partnered with AirConsole to bring a gaming platform that uses smartphones as controllers to the BMW infotainment system.
Obviously, these games can only be played while the car is stationary, but the technology allows for both single and multiplayer games on BMW’s nearly 15-inch infotainment system. A subscription is required to access in-car gaming for almost all car brands that offer it.

Advanced driver assistance systems

While a lot of the coolest new technology in cars today are simply perks or nice to have, other technology is becoming necessary, including safety features. The latest advanced driver assistance systems available in most cars include sensors that can detect driver drowsiness, pedestrians outside the vehicle, and even technology that can read road signs and alert drivers about speed limit changes or upcoming stop signs.
Depending on the automaker, the latest safety technology could come standard or could be available as an optional upgrade. If you’re planning to upgrade your car in any way, safety features are one thing you can’t go wrong with advancing!

In-car streaming

Similar to in-car gaming, in-car streaming technology for Netflix and the like is available in some cars on the infotainment system when the vehicle is put in park. In addition to infotainment system streaming, some car brands have upped their passenger streaming capabilities. According to
CNET
, the
2022 Jeep Wagoneer
and Grand Wagoneer have impressive streaming powered by UConnect.
Jeep brought Amazon Fire TV to its Wagoneer vehicles, which allows for fast streaming for each passenger in the vehicle. Not only is streaming fast and easy, but also each passenger can stream something different, a feature that’s perfect for families or groups on road trips!

High tech navigation systems

Another practical yet cool technological advancement made in cars is high tech navigation systems. A great example of this is in the
2021 Cadillac Escalade
. In the Escalade, navigation directions come from all around the driver, so if you need to make a left turn, the direction will come from the left side.
For drivers that prefer surround sound navigation, heads-up directions can display on the windshield or stay on the 17-inch infotainment system. Regardless of the option you choose, the Cadillac Escalade’s navigation system helps keep drivers safe and efficient when traveling on the road.
