The 'Tom & Jerry' Racing Duo And Their Classic Chevy

Tom and Jerry certainly had their moments in cars. But the real racing duo of that name aren’t animated animals on the TV screen. Rather, they’re classic car driving legends.

'Tom and Jerry' resonates with many as two of the most beloved cartoon characters. However, the classic Chevy in this article doesn’t have much to do with the cat and mouse.
Rather, a more real, perhaps more influential duo of that name is worth considering. Indeed, Tom Lincoln and Jerry Jahnsen have dominated
classic car
racecourses, turning ‘50s Chevys into speed machines. And these days, they’re at the height of their power, most famous for their 1955 Chevy 210, dubbed the "No Prep '55 Chevy."

A partnership inspired by the 1955 Chevy 210

Lincoln and Jahnsen’s partnership started in 2015, and it sent ripples across the track world. Their self-sponsored privateer projects include three of the most stylish classic cars of the ‘50s and ‘60s, which featured in various races, including the NHRA Heritage Series and Top Sportsman.
The first car they worked with was the not-so-forgotten 1967 Chevy Nova. Following extensive customizations, the '67 Chevy managed to race in the March Meet racing competition's B/Gas division with Jerry at the wheel. That feat was the first of many, and the duo went on to win numerous further races.
Their hunger for racing grew more profound. Jahnsen and Lincoln got to work with the 1969 Chevy Camaro. The car won five major events in the first season of the 6.90 Door Slammer Series.
In 2018, the duo retraced their roots to the no-rules 1/8-mile drag racing with the 1955 Chevy 210, marking a critical point in their careers.

How good was the duo's 1955 Chevy 210?

Jahnsen and Lincoln began working on the successful '55 Chevy in 2018, getting their hands dirty to create a custom-made classic car to feature in the Street Outlaw: No Prep Kings TV series that aired on Discovery Channel. But why did they choose the beautiful 1955 classic?
According to
DragZine
, the duo specifically chose the car to replace their previously lower-performance classics. They particularly liked the 210 because it could accommodate gigantic 36-inch tires with an extended wheelbase. Explaining their choice, Jahnsen said, "We thought it was a great combination for No-Prep."
It featured a Pro-Line Racing raised-cam Hemi engine with shorter pushrods and upgraded gears, meaning more power and stability to the valvetrain. "Quenched" by 700-pound-per-hour fuel injectors, a unique engine management system, and an M&M Turbo 400 gearbox Transmission, the car cranked out an incredible 3,500 HP.
Nicknamed "Side Hustle," the duo's 1955 Chevy featured a steel body by Florida's Real Deal Steel. The inside was entirely adorned in carbon fiber, replacing the original leather interior.
Furthermore, a secure safety harness stabilized Jahnsen during his dazzling sprints, while the twin parachutes in the rear ensured a safe stop.
