Subaru Legacy overview

Consumer Reports gave the Subaru Legacy an overall score of 87, which earned it the number two spot in the category of midsize cars. Its road test score was even higher, at an 89 out of 100. Consumer Reports loved the smooth ride of the Legacy and its ability to soak up any potholes or dents in the road while driving with its suspension.
In another big category, predicted reliability, the Legacy earned an overall score of four out of five, indicating drivers can depend on this vehicle. The car falls off a bit from these high ratings with an owner satisfaction score of only three out of five, but it still falls into the average category.

Subaru Legacy performance

To start, acceleration on this car is solid. It can get from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.9 seconds, earning it a three out of five from Consumer Reports. Where the Legacy really shines is with its transmission, earning a five out of five rating. Braking and emergency handling scored four out of five possible points.
Fuel economy is rated a four out of five, with overall mileage of 28 mpg, a city mileage of 19 mpg and a highway mileage of 39 mpg. Annual fuel cost comes in around $1,040, which sounds to us like drivers are getting a bang for their fuel buck.

The Legacy scores highly all around for comfort. Its best category is ride, scoring a perfect five out of five. But, in categories like noise, front seat comfort, rear seat comfort, interior fit and finish, and trunk and cargo area, the car scores a near perfect four out of five.
Plus, comfort is the category owners are most satisfied with an 84 out of 100 satisfaction rate.

Subarus are known for having great safety features and ratings and the Legacy is no exception. The car comes standard with features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear view cameras, anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and more.
