background
On September 9th, 2021 Maserati unveiled its new MC20
luxury car
in Modena, Italy, marking a new era for the manufacturer. The automaker believes the new car will appeal to drivers' desire for a reliable car. And it also gives a look into where the iconic company is going.

Overview of the new Maserati MC20

The MC20 features butterfly doors which make entering and exiting the car easier. They’re also really cool.
As
Car and Driver
reports, the MC20 represents a shift for Maserati, as it’s the company's first racing car made for the road. And there are a lot of familiar sports car traits With butterfly doors, it's easy to step in and out of the vehicle. It's also made almost entirely of carbon fiber and has an intentionally minimalistic interior.

MC20 engine power and speed

Maserati uses the MC20 to introduce buyers to its new twin-turbocharged 630 hp V-6 engine. Known as the Nettuno, the engine has two combustion chambers paired with an 8-speed auto transmission—a structure pinched from Formula 1 cars.
Maserati claims the MC20 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in about three seconds, and reach a top speed of 200mph. An electric version of the car is also expected, but the company is yet to provide details of the car's battery and electric motors.

Sports and luxury cars are not friendly when it comes to fuel savings. The class-leading Mercedes AMG GT, for example, only averages 22 miles per gallon.
Maserati’s aren’t notorious for being fuel-efficient, either. However, the electric version is expected to have a 235-mile range—a decent mark for a high-performance car.

Maserati MC20 interior and comfort

It seems Maserati is one of the few automakers that understands the market value of butterfly doors. Though the MC20's cabin may be small, the interior designs are impressive. The seats are covered with black leather and dark blue stitching that blends with the center console. Maserati also developed six unique colors for the new vehicle that help project its Italian origin.
MC20 uses a digital rear-view mirror and back-facing camera to solve the problem of rear visibility. The camera projects the back image on the rear screen as you drive. For that reason, you don't need to turn your head to view the rear. Of course, this system is standard with the latest luxury cars.
The MC20 signals a new future for Maserati as it comes equipped with some of the latest available technology. It connects to the Maserati Connect Program for full access to navigation support, Wi-Fi, and Alexa when on the road.
