Ford LTD station wagon

Ford produced dozens of great cars during the 1980s, but one of their best was the family friendly LTD Station Wagon. This
Ford station wagon
was upscale with quality features, but still practical for everyday driving, which made it great for families.
According to
Hemmings
, the LTD was characterized by woodgrain vinyl body-side paneling, an all-vinyl bench seat, and a 130 hp, 5-liter engine with a three-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The LTD featured tons of room for cargo and passengers, and you can’t beat that classic ‘80s wood panel siding.

Chrysler Town & Country station wagon

The Chrysler Town & Country station wagon had a fancy name and a luxurious interior to go with it. The
Chrysler station wagon
was referred to as “Special K” for short, because of its plush and quiet interior and smooth ride.
This ‘80s station wagon was fueled by a 2.2-liter, multi-point-EFI turbo engine that produced 146 hp, which was impressive for the time. Like the Ford LTD, the Chrysler Town & Country had a woodgrain side panel, plus AM radio and vinyl seating.

Ford Taurus station wagon

Another Ford vehicle makes the list of best ‘80s station wagons with the Ford Taurus Station Wagon.
Money Inc.
reports the Ford Taurus Station Wagon looked very similar to the Mercury Sable Station Wagon, and it wasn’t uncommon for the two brands to have very similar vehicles, with Mercury being slightly more upscale and priced slightly higher. The car featured a FWD transverse powertrain, lots of cargo room, and additional storage space under the carpeted loaded floor.
Unfortunately, the Ford Taurus Station Wagon was discontinued by the 1990s to focus on the Ford Taurus Sedan.

Chevrolet Caprice Classic station wagon

As it says in the name, the Chevrolet Caprice Classic is definitely a classic
Chevrolet station wagon
In the ‘80s, the Chevrolet Caprice Classic station wagon was made into a luxurious vehicle, with the addition of  full wheel covers instead of hubcaps, a hood ornament, features to make the cabin quieter for drivers, an electric clock, more quality materials on the inside, dual horns, power windows, and more.
On top of that, the ‘80s station wagon featured a three-speed automatic and a 120 hp, 4.4-liter, two-barrel V8 engine. If drivers chose, they could upgrade the engine to a 150 hp, 5-liter V8 engine to go with more upgraded materials inside like a vinyl-bench seat and a vinyl-coated textured metal in the cargo area.
All in all, the Chevrolet Caprice Classic Station Wagon was a family car with a sense of luxury and great quality, making it one of the best ‘80s station wagons.
