For more than five decades,
Ford
has maintained a loyal fandom for its Mustang through cool designs and famous power. Each new generation of the Ford Mustang has wowed audiences in new ways. A potential seventh generation of the Mustang has been rumored before, and a recent sighting of a black Mustang seems to confirm rumors.
According to
GM Authority
, a prototype of a Ford Mustang was recently seen and captured in photos. This Mustang is still shrouded in a lot of mystery, but the images that we do see have revealed a few details about the new model.

What we know about the 2024 Ford Mustang

In the pictures taken of the new Mustang, most of the vehicle's body is covered in tarps or other coverings. Ford is keeping a lot of details about the new generation of Mustang a secret, but there are still features that can be seen.
For starters, the prototype black Mustang keeps the car's iconic long hood. The hood itself is covered, but the shape looks similar to the one seen on the current Mustang generation. Another detail that should come as no surprise is the five-spike wheels, which are fitting for a Mustang.
In the rear part of the new Ford, there are two visible exhaust tips, which is to be expected for a car like the Mustang. Interestingly, the taillights appear different from standard Mustang lights. Rather than vertical lines on the taillights, the prototype Mustang has a series of LED dots.

Speculation about the black 2024 Ford Mustang prototype

Of course, it is hard to know a lot about the new Mustang for certain. There are details that can be speculated on, though.
The automotive industry is changing quickly, and electric vehicles are becoming more common. Because of this, one major question fans have is if there will be a hybrid or fully electric version of the new Mustang generation. Ford has already made an electric vehicle called the Mustang Mach-E, so a standard electric Mustang would make sense.
Another question about the Mustang is whether it will have an all-wheel-drive trim level. This is something that some fans have been hoping for, and it would make the Mustang even more impressive on the road.
It was previously thought that the seventh generation of Mustang would come to dealerships in 2023, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Now it looks like the new Mustang will release in 2024.

How does the new Mustang compare to the Chevy Camaro?

It's hard to talk about the Ford Mustang without talking about the car it is often compared to the most, the Chevy Camaro.
The Camaro is in a unique position right now that does give the Mustang an advantage. While the news keeps changing, it looks like the Camaro line is going to be discontinued. This is likely to happen around the same time that the new Mustang generation comes out.
Even if it does go away, the Camaro could always make a return, though, possibly as an electric vehicle.
