Few cars have as much of a cult following as the
Chevrolet
Corvette. It even has a
museum dedicated to it
.
It's not hard to see why the car inspires such devotion. It has been around for decades, and many models are beautiful and long-lasting.
This leads to many of them being declared classics. One of these classics is the 2002 Corvette.

2002 Corvette basics

The 2002 Corvette is a two-seater convertible or coupe. It's a sporty little number, with a curb weight of 3,210 pounds and length of 179.7 inches. It even hugs the ground with a minimum ground clearance of 1.4 inches.
This Corvette comes with a 5.7 liter V8 engine, which will give you 350 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque. Fortunately, the RWD drivetrain and automatic transmission give you plenty of control over that power.
You also get 13.9 cubic feet of cargo space and plenty of room for the driver and passenger. You can stretch out on a long drive in the 42.7 inches of front leg room and 37.9 inches of head room, so it makes a great little vacation car.
This can make up for getting a combined 19 miles per gallon. That breaks down to 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

2002 Corvette features

A luxury car such as the 2002 Corvette is expected to have plenty of interior features, and it delivers with leather upholstering and optional dual power front seats. A power driver's seat is also available.
A driver will love this car's power windows and tilt steering wheel. The Cruise Control and the navigation system will also impress anyone getting a 2002 model.
The MP3 player may inspire some nostalgia, and so might the hands-free phone. The CD player will feel familiar, though.
For drivers who like to race or look like they race, there are alloy wheels. You can also get a rear spoiler bolted on.
You don't have to worry about safety with this model either, because it comes with rear parking sensors and traction control. Passenger, driver, front side, and rear side airbags offer further protection.

How does this Corvette compare with similar cars?

The 2002 Corvette is more powerful than many similar-sized and priced cars. It has nearly double the horsepower of the Mazda MX-5 Miata and the 2014 VW Beetle. It even beats the 2011 Audi S5.
The power comes with higher gas consumption, though. The 2014 Roadster, Miata, and Beetle all get double the gas mileage of the 2002 Corvette.
Of course, the Miata and Beetle have four-cycle two liter engines, so it's no surprise that they have less torque and horsepower than the Corvette. What is surprising is how the features stack up.
They all share traction control and cruise control. Power windows and tilt steering wheels were also standard for the 2014 models and the 2002 Corvette.
Kelley Blue Book
has a 2002 Corvette for $18,313, and that is only slightly less expensive than the 2014 MINI Roadster. This car clearly keeps pace with younger cars, and most reviewers on Kelley Blue Book say their Corvette was worth every penny.
