Subaru
is adding an even more luxurious trim level to its largest SUV, the 2023
Subaru Ascent
According to
Motor Trend
, the 2023 model of the three-row SUV is getting an overall refresh, but you don’t have to worry about losing any of its 19 cupholders or its 75.6 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Ascent was new terrain for Subaru when it was first released in 2019, but the roomy and versatile 8-passenger vehicle rose to the top of midsize SUV best-of lists everywhere.
The new Ascent comes standard with an impressive suite of new features including all-wheel-drive, updated styling, safety upgrades, new infotainment features, and even an intercom system.
The most buzzed-about new feature however is a brand new trim level—the Onyx Edition. The 2023 Ascent is available in Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring trim levels.

What’s new for the 2023 Subaru Ascent?

From the outside, minor tweaks have been made to the 2023 Subaru Ascent’s styling. The grille is bigger and taller, while the lower front bumper has new air ducts to improve aerodynamics. The 2023 Ascent also comes with new LED headlights and redesigned C-shaped taillights.
The EyeSight Driver Assist Technology which was available in previous model years has been updated to function more smoothly and intuitively under a wider variety of conditions. This upgrade is due in part to a new, wide-angle camera and new software to go with it.
If you’ve been eyeing other Subaru models, the Subaru Legacy and Outback were similarly updated. For the Premium trim and up, EyeSight also features Automatic Emergency Steering which can help avoid low-speed impacts.
If you decide to upgrade to a Touring model with the Harman Kardon QuantumLogic surround sound system, you can also get access to the Cabin Connect PA system, which can override the speakers to make announcements from the driver’s seat.
This feature is also available separately as an option on other trims.
