Like many ballplayers with insane amounts of disposable cash,
Shaquille O’Neal
is also obsessed with cars. His 17-car garage lives on his 31,000-square-foot
Orlando
estate…We’ll be right there.
While the tall basketball star may not fit into most standard-sized vehicles, he didn’t let that stop him. Let’s take a peek at some of the fun automobiles in Shaq’s quirky car collection.

Modifying and playing with size

Due to his size, Shaq customized his HEMI-powered Dodge Challenger so he could fit inside. And according to
HotCars
, he “had the CSC Customs install red LED headlights and underglow.” No, that’s not a fierce cat on the road, that's Shaq—or should we say Shaqcat.
You may have heard of the Jeep Golden Eagle, but how often do you see a pickup truck wrapped in gold? Shaq customized his GMC Sierra Denali with shiny gold wrapping. With a raised suspension, the car is as tall as him, and features new masculine rims.
And of course, the celebrity also added a big truck to his car collection. His Play Big Truck may be hard to maneuver for everyday driving (where do you even park that thing?!) but taking it on the occasional cruise can be tons of fun.
The 7-foot-1-inch icon commissioned the West Coast Customs to modify the beast, which included graffiti-like detailing on the exterior. It’s pretty much as tall as two sedans stacked on top of each other.

Inspired by Marvel superhero flicks

A big fan of the movie Suicide Squad from Marvel Studios, Shaq bought himself a Vaydor to drive just like the Joker. In order to live out his superhero villain fantasy, the Vaydor was also customized to maximize comfort for the basketball star.
It sports a kit that originally fit onto a powertrain of an Infiniti G35. “The seats, pedals, and lower dash have all been modified to allow his enormous frame to fit more comfortably and the original Infiniti’s roof has been entirely removed to allow for more headroom,”
HotCars
notes. Customized airbags and air suspension were also added.
The celebrity athlete pays homage to Superman with his black Range Rover. Shaq got the Man of Steel’s logo installed on the vehicle’s front fascia. According to HotCars, “Aside from the free marketing, [Land Rover and DC Comics] even got a cut from Shaq’s millions when he purchased the car.”
Known as one of the bulkiest cars ever, the Cadillac Escalade received a super cool makeover before it hit the sports star’s collection. “With its scissor doors that look like wings or a cape, whichever you prefer, the Cadillac Escalade looks lighter and smaller without losing its toughness,” HotCars tells us.
The featured Superman logo on the front grille along with its red paint color shows us just how much Shaq respects this superhero.
And yes, there’s a third Superman car. Shaq’s Chevrolet G1500 is a 2001 model, but it’s anything but an old van. The sound systems and screens are updated and the suspension has been lowered. It’s reported to have only cost $45,000.
The basketball legend likes attention and wants fans to make some noise when they see his Big Hoffa strutting down the street.
It’s impossible to miss, with its name and the #SHAQ logo in huge white font displayed toward the front of the vehicle. On the side of the Big Hoffa, you’ll find multiple life-size images of Shaq in action on the court, along with a massive Superman sign in the middle.
Half RV, half tour bus, we have a feeling taking a cross country road trip in this bus would be just as luxurious as a first-class flight.

Shaq’s fun takes on unique cars

We have to mention Mayor McShaq’s Polaris Slingshot. His version is stretched out to accommodate his long legs and additional seating was also added. The three-wheeler boasts an 18-speaker sound system and gorgeous black and red quilted seats. That sounds like a fun way to kick back on a Saturday.
Another three-wheeler in the collection is the nostalgic Vanderhall Venice 3 Wheel Roadster. The autocycle “combines classic motoring style ala English manufacturer Morgan, but with modern composite construction,” according to HotCars. Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine can crank out 180 hp.
With a great sense of humor, Shaq couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get into a Mercedes Benz Smart Car. The joke was worth the $28,000 cost, as Shaq “was forced to get one with a retractable cloth and Targa-style roof to allow his shoulders and head to fit into the diminutive automobile,” HotCars notes.
In line with his love for lux living, Shaq added a Sprinter Van of America, and he got it for free. The van usually runs around $90,000 with hardwood floors, comfy seats, and a customized entertainment system. Who needs an estate when you can take your home on the road.
