Have you ever seen a Citroën cruising around your town? In many areas of the country, sightings of this quirky French car brand are few and far between. Fortunately, there's one place to get your fill of Citroëns. It's at the Citroën Rendezvous that occurs in upstate New York every Father's Day.
Rare car aficionados will especially enjoy the Rendezvous since it features more than just Citroëns. Around a tenth of the participating
car brands
are Alpines, Bugattis, Panhards, Peugeots, Renaults, Simcas, and other popular European vehicles that are rarely seen here.

The Citroën Rendezvous

Citroën celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. According to
Autoweek
, the brand made a big deal of its centennial with celebrations everywhere that Citroëns are sold. Even though they haven't been sold in the U.S. for nearly half a century, Citroëns were well-represented by owners and fans at the Rendezvous in New York.
More than a hundred Citroëns gather for an average Rendezvous. Just picture how many must have shown up for this momentous occasion. After all, it's not every year that a car brand gets to celebrate its hundredth anniversary!
The 2022 Rendezvous will take place in Saratoga Springs, New York from June 17th through June 19th. According to the official
Citroën Rendezvous
website, the festivities will kick off with an ice cream social on Friday afternoon and conclude with an au revoir petit déjeuner (small goodbye breakfast) on Sunday morning.
If you're a fellow Citroën enthusiast (or simply admire quirky European cars of any kind!), you're welcome to visit the Showfield on Saturday. It's located at Lakeside Farms near Ballston Lake. It's there that you can enjoy all of the rare European cars you might want to see—including plenty of Citroëns.

A car brand with a long history and an innovative future

During WWI, Citroën had to put its car plans on hold due to a lack of material and manpower. However, it bolted from producing armaments into car production once the war ended in 1918. And, yes, this French company really has been producing cars for more than a century!
During that time, Citroën has produced innovations such as the first mass-produced car with front-wheel drive and the first four-wheel independent suspension. With that much innovative history behind them, they have the experience needed to tackle even the most modern innovations—like electric vehicles.

Would you like to own a Citroën?

Citroën stopped selling cars in America in 1974 due to regulations that outlawed some of its cars' most innovative features. However, they're returning with the Citroën Ami electric quadricycle. This tiny vehicle seats two, has a top speed of around 45 miles per hour, and charges in three hours using ordinary household current.
Free2Move plans on testing five of the ultra-compact electric vehicles in the Washington, D.C. area. This rental vehicle company is owned by Citroën's parent company, so it's no surprise that they're testing the quadricycle rental market with the Ami. Considering that car rental prices have risen so high that Myrtle Beach tourists are using U-Haul vehicles to get around, it's probably a smart move!

Better make sure your car insurance covers rentals

Not every car insurance policy covers rental vehicles. If you think there might be a car, quadricycle, or U-Haul rental in your future, you should check the terms of your policy. While you're at it, why don't you also check to make sure that you're getting the best price for a policy that meets all of your needs?
