In 2021, the
Audi
SQ5 got a makeover from the earlier 2020 model and added some impressive features. This SUV is popular among drivers because on paper, it’s a perfect marriage between a sporty and luxury vehicle.
But, car critics had some mixed reviews about the 2021 Audi SQ5. Here, we’re going over the pros and cons of this luxury vehicle—what do you think?

Pro #1: Solid performance

The 2021 Audi SQ5 comes equipped with a Turbocharged V-6 engine. As
Cars.com
reports, “The SQ5 has a 349-hp, turbo 3.0-liter, V6 engine that sends power to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system.”
With this engine, the SQ5 is able to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, which is quicker than many other similar Audi models, and a full second faster than its sibling SQ model. Plus, it’s just as fast as competitors like BMW M40i and Mercedes AMG.

Con #1: Timid drive

Despite the solid performance and engine capabilities of the SQ5, many reviewers found the drive to be somewhat timid for this vehicle. While the ride is smooth, it isn’t as fun as driving some other luxury sports vehicle.
Steering is light and numb, so don’t take turns in the SQ5 too quickly. And, it can feel like the transmission is playing catch-up to this car's stellar engine while you’re driving, which can limit capabilities.
But, a
MotorTrend
reviewer found the SQ5 leaned nicely on twisty roads and had good grip on its tires, so this one might just be a user preference. That’s why it’s always important to

Pro #2: Fuel economy

Unlike a lot of luxury, sporty cars, the 2021 Audi SQ5 has pretty good fuel economy by EPA standards. It has an overall fuel economy rating of 20 mpg, a city rating of 18 mpg, and a highway rating of 24 mpg.
When a
CNET reporter
took the 2021 Audi SQ5 out for a week of test driving to review, they found they were averaging the 24 mpg highway rating throughout the week, even with driving more than normal for testing purposes. Compared to other luxury sports vehicles, this is impressive.

Con #2: Rapid price increases

The 2021 Audi SQ5 starts around $53,995, which isn’t terrible for the luxury car market. But, as you begin to increase in trim, or add on some additional features, you can quickly find yourself well into the $70,000 range for this car.
While the base model might be a good value, we think you could get a bigger bang for your buck than the most expensive versions of the SQ5.

Pro #3: Modern, upscale interior

As can be expected in the luxury car market, the 2021 Audi SQ5 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to a luxury interior. Inside, you’ll find a clean design in neutral grays and blacks that gives the car a feel of elegance.
Seats for both the driver and passengers (including rear seat passengers) are comfortable and good for long drives. Plus, the SQ5 has a touchscreen infotainment system, but still has a number of easy-to-use buttons to control different functions in the car.

Con #3: No sporty look or feel

For a luxury sports car, the 2021 Audi SQ5 doesn’t particularly look or feel like a traditional sports car. It comes standard with regular 20-inch wheels, LED headlights, and an average rear bumper and diffuser.
When you accelerate there’s no real noise, and overall driving this car feels smooth and at times, unexciting. But, that might not be a dealbreaker for some drivers.
