The 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP is so highly regarded, in large part, because of its incredible engine that was available for an incredible price.
The GXP trim of the Pontiac was equipped with an LS3 V8 engine that produced an astonishing 402 hp. For a sedan, that number was head-turning at the time. The engine could be paired with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission.

On top of that, there have been some bodywork issues reported as well. While it’s best practice to check all used cars for rust or erosion before purchasing, the G8 GXP seems to have some unique bodywork problems of its own. Drivers reported when driving at top speed, exterior trims like the front grille, rear spoiler, and hood scoops have flown off the car, which can be a danger to the driver and others on the road.
While these problems aren’t ideal, there are a variety of issues that come with all used cars, which is why it’s important to get a complete check of a used vehicle done by a professional before you purchase.
