Porsche is arguably winning the most acclaim amongst all the high-end
luxury car
brands. Demand continues to rise for the Porsche Taycan, and the 911 remains one of the most sought-after nameplates.
In 2019, Porsche released the 911 GT2 RS. While this speed demon is about three years old, it remains one of the most desirable street-legal race cars of today.
The 911 has been around since 1964, and has continued to keep its impressive reputation.

The 911's legacy

Even most non-gearheads are familiar with the Porsche 911 name (or "Neunelfer" if you're traveling in Europe.) While the first 911 debuted in 1964, the main concept hasn't been changed: make a street-legal car that goes insanely fast.
Oddly enough, 911s used to be called 901s. That was until French carmaker Peugeot sued Porsche on a copyright claim. According to Peugeot, they have the exclusive rights to cars named with 3 digits that have a zero in the middle. Instead of coming up with a brand new name, Porsche just switched the 901 to 911.
While the early 911s were impressive enough on their own, they wouldn't hit their stride until the 1970s. In that groovy decade, the 911 dominated numerous prestigious races, including Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona.
Porsche's 911 would go through a variety of redesigns through the years, but it would get a major makeover in 2019.

Specs of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS

The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS exploded onto the scene with near-universal acclaim.
Car and Driver
gave it a prestigious 10/10 rating and called it “the most powerful production 911 that Porsche has ever built."
This Porsche carries a 3.8-liter flat-six engine. While that may sound small for a 911, it does include the innovative VarioCam system. This system constantly monitors and alters the timing of all 4 cams for maximum output. The result is a mind-boggling 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
Porsche also went to extra lengths to keep the car light. While we would expect carbon fiber everything to keep the race car light, Porsche decided to ditch the metal emblem that adorns most Porsche vehicles. Instead, they went with a decal sticker to cut about a half-ounce of weight. Details like this gave the Porsche 911 GT2 RS a 0 to 60 mph of 2.6 seconds.

While it might be hard to find an owner who's willing to sell, it won't be impossible. About 3,000 were produced, and a little more than 1,000 were destined for the North American region. The good news is that the 911 GT2 RS isn't considered a hypercar.
Pricing may also be a barrier unless you recently won the lottery. It was originally priced at $293,200, and it has appreciated a great deal. At the time of this article, one AutoTrader listing in Dallas asked for $389,900 for their GT2 RS.
