Not All Special Edition Vehicles Are Special, and Some Are Just Bad

While some special edition vehicles are truly unique, others simply fall short.

Many drivers love hearing the words “special edition” when it comes to a new vehicle.
Special edition vehicles
make us feel like we’re part of an exclusive club and purchased a great product, and in some cases, that’s definitely true.
But in other cases, special edition vehicles aren’t so special—in fact, sometimes they’re downright bad. These are some cars that truly take the cake when it comes to the worst special edition
cars ever made

Toyota Echo Roxy Edition

The
Toyota
Echo Roxy Edition is one of the worst, and most confusing, special edition cars ever made. Described by
Jalopnik
as “garbage” this special edition definitely isn’t special in a good way.
The special edition Roxy adds striping and badges that don’t do much for the design of the car, plus gives it unnecessary water-resistant seat covers. Top it all off with a Yakima surfboard roof rack, and it’s clear this special edition simply doesn’t make sense.

Dodge ‘Hang 10’ Dart

While the outside of this vehicle appeared as a seemingly normal Dodge vehicle, and the engine was strong, this
special edition Dodge
really fell flat on the interior. The interior of this vehicle features orange shag carpeting, wooden accents around the instrument panel, a painted center console and dash, and an unappealing color combination of white, orange, blue, and yellow vinyl stripped seats. Talk about a lot going on inside a car!
But, if that sounds like your jam, you can shop online for a Hang 10 Dart, for around $20,000 - $30,000.

Fiat 500 Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari

The biggest thing wrong with this special edition
Fiat
vehicle was its price tag. Although it drove fairly well, the Ferrari branding really drove up the price.
HotCars
notes that the Ferrari branding was completely unnecessary, drove up the price, and made it seem like a special edition car used just for the manufacturer to make a profit. The price meant it wasn’t popular when it debuted at around $50,000, and is even still expensive today.

Nissan Silvia Almighty

The Nissan Silvia Almighty was a special edition car that had high hopes in the automotive industry, but ultimately fell short.
Debuting in 1988, the car stayed on the road for only a few years before being discontinued in 1993. It ultimately just didn’t perform as well as the other sedans at the time, and it cost the vehicle the title of a truly special, special edition vehicle.

Fiat Panda Italia ‘90

The Fiat Panda Italia ‘90 was a strange concept car. This special edition ride was in honor of the 1990 World Cup in Italy and the manufacturers decided to make the hubcaps in the design of a soccer ball that would spin as you drove.
While the concept was strange and not too popular among the public, you have to commend Fiat for trying something different and their commitment to the World Cup.
