The New Corvette Colors for 2022

Chevy is shaking things up with new paint colors for the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8. What three new colors can we look forward to and which ones got the ax?

Since the 1950s, Corvettes have been a prominent part of American performance-car culture. And the new 2022
Chevy
Corvette couldn't be more ready to switch things up for summer.
At the 2021 Michelin National Corvette Bash, Chevrolet announced three hot new paint colors for the 2022 Chevy Corvette C8. Since Chevy’s new colors will take the place of three old ones, which hues didn’t make the cut in the company’s new paint portfolio?

Supercar performance and daily-driveable

The mid-engine Corvette C8 features a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine and can crank out 490 hp. It’s also got 470 lb-ft of torque “sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox,” according to
Car and Driver
The eighth-generation Corvette can accelerate to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds while gaining an 11.2-second quarter-mile at 122 mph. “Previous changes for the 2021 model included standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability and new display options for the digital gauge cluster, including the tachometer in Track mode,” Car and Driver reports.
We can expect Chevy’s exclusive Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 4G LTE hotspot. The 2022 model is also sure to impress with a plethora of driver-assist systems and car safety features.
The two-seater gets an EPA of 15 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. According to
MotorTrend
, “For 2022, the C8 will be in its third model year, which means we're overdue for the high-performance (or hybrid) variants that previous generations already had by this point.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Chevy plans to reveal more eco-friendly options pertaining to the ZR1, Z06, or E-Ray.
Last year, “Chevrolet added two new exterior color choices—Red Mist and Silver Flare—to the mid-engine C8 Corvette for the 2021 model year and made it $1000 more expensive,” Car and Driver notes. And now, to celebrate the third-model year with the engine mounted behind the cockpit, drivers get to enjoy three new colors to personalize their vehicles

Out with the old, in with the new

Let’s start with the Premium option. Amplify Orange Tintcoat will take the place of Sebring Orange Tintcoat. “Sebring Orange was a "premium" paint color with a $995 upcharge; it's not clear if Amplify Orange will carry the same cost,” MotorTrend notes.
If you like bold and you like tangerine, this may be the paint color for you. The two colors actually look quite identical, but that may not be the case when viewing and comparing them in person.
The subtle Zeus Bronze Metallic will be replaced by Caffeine, a metallic type brown that reminds us of sophisticated tan leather. While it may not be for everyone, it’s giving us some major ‘70s vibes, like the color of your Grandpa’s favorite chair. It’s also a gorgeous tone for fall, as it would fit right leaf-peeping on long narrow roads searching for the best creemees in Vermont
Since Zeus Bronze was a free option in the past, we’re hoping the same goes for Caffeine so we can spend our money on actual coffee instead.
Gray is one of the most common
car paint colors
, so it's no wonder that Chevy wanted to get it just right. The dark, blue-green Shadow Gray will be superseded by Hypersonic Gray Metallic.
This new paint color is lighter and definitely more on-trend. We think it looks a bit less like wet cement and more like what it looks like once it's dry.
Grays can vary in tone depending on the type of metallic flakes that change color in different lighting situations. A bit hard to tell to evaluate on the computer screen. At least this new gray shouldn't be an extra fee to add to your upcoming model.
You can put in your order starting in mid-July, and we don’t expect the starting price to be too much more than the $60,995 base price of the 2021 model.
