Super cars
have always been about pushing boundaries. But recently, Tesla and other EV makers have made it more difficult for high-end luxury brands to find new limits to push. Czinger, a new sports car brand out of California, has found one.
Czinger’s first car, the 21C, is plenty fast and will turn the head of any pedestrian. But the thing that truly makes it special is the way it is built—using 3D printers.
Kevin Czinger founded the automaker in 2019 with the intent to make auto production more sustainable, and his digital manufacturing system is the way he plans to do that.

Czinger’s digitized car building system

Kevin Czinger is more than a rich car enthusiast. The former federal prosecutor and college football star helms a number of companies, much like rival automaker Elon Musk
One of his other ventures, Divergent, plays an integral role in the concepts driving Czinger’s super car brand. Divergent developed the process of using recyclable metal alloys and 3D printing that the auto manufacturer uses to build its cars.
Talking to the

, Czinger explained the benefits of the new technology. “When tools are digital, they allow you much more leverage to design, manufacture and assemble,” he said.
He sees the flexible process having the potential to democratize auto manufacturing, making the industry much easier to jump into with smaller teams and lower initial costs.

The 21C: a $2 million beauty

It’s one thing to talk about the potential of a concept you’ve developed. It’s another to show its capability to the public. The Czinger 21C is meant to do just that.
The hybrid super car is powered by a twin-turbocharged
V8 engine
as well as an electric motor for each axle. Altogether, they offer up to 1,350 hp. And with the right person behind the wheel, the car can reach 60 mph in a shocking 1.9 seconds.
Don’t get your hopes up too high for owning a 21C, though. The car costs at least $2 million, and even if you have the cash, Czinger only plans to produce 80 cars. Deliveries are expected to start in late 2023.

$2 million is only the start for 21C owners
