Chevy
has always been known for experimentation, and the 2022 Chevy Reaper is the most recent example. With a sporty look aimed at off-road truck fans who also want to ride in style, the Chevy Reaper aims to be the best of both worlds. Chevy intends for the Reaper to be a pickup that competes with the Ford Raptor, but does this dirt road darling have what it takes?

The Chevy Reaper’s specs

Right now, much of the Chevy Reaper’s specific details are unknown. The truck has yet to be released to dealerships and is still under development. But still—the speculation is based on the 2021 model, which was an impressive pickup, to say the least.
According to
FourXFourCars
, we may be able to expect the Chevy Reaper to have an updated version of its 5.3-liter V8 that is capable of providing up to 550 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. The Chevy Reaper’s engine may be paired with the same six-speed automatic transmission from the 2021 model, and drivers should probably expect a 0-60 time of around 5.0 seconds.

What will the Chevy Reaper’s interior look like?

The interior of the Chevy Reaper will likely be similar to the 2022 Silverado High Country, give or take a few small features. With 5 passenger seats in the 4-door version, there’s certainly a lot of room for passengers to feel at ease. However, Chevy has trailed behind both Ford and especially
Ram
in terms of interior quality and trim levels.
If Chevy takes their time to offer higher-quality leather, infotainment displays, and more accommodating, comfortable seats, the Reaper may steal some of the high-performance truck market’s attention away from the Ford Raptor.

What will the Chevy Reaper’s exterior look like?

Whether you like trucks or not, the 2021 Chevy Reaper is a beautiful beast. Expect much of the same design choices for the 2022 model, including a Corsa exhaust system (likely to be true dual exhaust), Fox Racing suspension, heavy-duty skid plates, and beefy off-road tires on flashy 20-inch rims.
For all of these perks, expect to pay somewhere north of $60,000 for a 2022 Reaper. Don’t forget to factor in potential packages or add-ons you may want, including a towing package, satellite radio, special driver assistance technology—and of course, your destination fee.
