Acura
is well-known for making some high-quality luxury cars, and some of Acura's best cars are certified classics. The Acura NSX is the legendary supercar that many fans of Japanese sports cars are aware of, and one of the NSX's best model years was its 1990 version.
Here's a look at the 1990 Acura NSX and why it's a beloved classic Japanese sports car.

The 1990 Acura NSX was quite fast and powerful

Honda introduced the NSX in the 1990 model year, and it was sold as the Acura NSX in North America. According to
Jalopnik
, it was powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that got 270 horsepower.
While now that doesn't sound like a lot of horsepower, it made the NSX a very fast and fun car to drive. That V-6 engine allowed the NSX to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, and it could do a quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds.
Its handling was great, and along with its powerful engine, it made the NSX one of the top JDM cars on the market. The NSX wasn't just a fast and fun car to drive, though. Honda also made sure that the car gave a comfortable driving experience.

The 1990 Acura NSX is beloved for a lot of other reasons

Since the NSX was a luxury sports car, its fit and finish were designed to be comfortable and good-looking. This Japanese sports car was built in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, however, so its interior is pretty sparse when compared to advanced modern sportscars.
The NSX also isn't a big car, and that helps keep its weight low. What that means is that the NSX isn't a family car, as it can only seat two people. Anyone who drove the NSX, however, experienced a high-quality driving experience that few automakers could match.
Honda upped the ante in another way, too. The NSX was a pretty cheap car for the time, as it started in the $20,000 to $40,000 range. Compared to the luxury sports cars of the day, the NSX offered a lot of fun at a much cheaper price tag than usual.

Unfortunately, the 1990 NSX is no longer worth $20,000 to $40,000. Anyone looking to buy this classic car might need to cough up cash that's in the six figures range. That shouldn't be too surprising since Honda stopped producing this generation of the NSX many years ago.
Even if you have the money on hand to buy a classic NSX, there's no guarantee someone will sell. The NSX is still a beloved car that collectors want to keep around just because of how cool it is.
While a classic 1990 NSX may be worth $100,000, a modern NSX from the 2022 model year will cost even more than that. A 2022 NSX will start at about $170,000, but it'll have quite a few key updates compared to the classic NSX from the ‘90s.
